Hi all, we have booked Club Med Samoens in the Black Friday sale, with what appears to be a good (ish) deal. Know the area really well but first time at Club Med, wanted somewhere me, my wife and 3 year old (just - Sep) can get some snow time. We wont be using the lessons.
We have booked Petit Club Med, and the learn to ski course and I have been reassured that the staff will supervise in addition to the ESF instructor for the lesson, then take the little one back indoors for supervised play. I fear he would, like lots of 3 year olds, lose focus if left to his own devices for any period of time. In an ideal world he would be around similar aged children and make some 'friends' when out there.
I am after some advice on what to expect, and any tips for people that have stayed here - tripadvisor is the usual mix of 5 and 1 star reviews.
I definitely do not want the week away from my toddler, its a family holiday after all, but I also want some snow time. My ideal would be, messing around in the snow in the morning, having lunch early, dropping little man off to petit club med after lunch for his lesson etc ... to spend the afternoon on the slopes, picking him back up towards the end of the afternoon to go swimming or more snow play time before tea.
Is the piou piou through club med different to the Piou Piou booked directly through ESF?
Can you dip in and dip out of the petit club med supervision? can I just drop him off at pre-arranged times and pick him up at an agreed time? or as I see fit?.
How does the fully catered work with a toddler, do you all eat together?, I see he has his own menu to choose from.
I see there is evening entertainment, is the kiddy friendly stuff bearable?
Any advice at this stage greatly received..... and sorry for so many questions.

We stayed there during the summer with our six month old son.
We didn't use the child care as we felt our son was too young. We did however have a good look at it and it seemed excellent.
Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner is on a large buffet style restaurant on one of the upper floors of the hotel. Families all sit together at a single table per family, there are various sizes of child seat available to suit all ages. In terms of food, it is excellent and there is a kids specific buffet in addition to the very varied adult one. It is very geared for families.
The pool facilities are fantastic with an inside and outside pool and a shallow kids pooll. Very helpful life guards who are friendly and great with the kids.
Lots of family friendly activities for kids throughout the week and the entertainment in the evening was pretty good. I say that as someone who usually hates this sort of thing!
That was our first Club Med trip and I was really impressed and have booked a trip to CM Tignes in March as a follow up.

@Imalittlelost, I’ve stayed here twice. I didn’t use the children’s facilities though, so do ask me anything else
It’s a big hotel, and the logistics can seem confusing, but you get used to it. Depending on where your room is, and whether you use the lifts or stairs, allow a good 10 minutes to get to the restaurant, pool, Petit club etc., The food is very good, as above, lots of choice, some cook-to-order stations, a wood fired pizza oven where you can select your pizza toppings and pop back for it, great salads, cheese board, desserts, ice creams .... there’s also a waiter-served restaurant on an upper floor, where you do need to book a table. I’ve seen children there though, so he’ll be welcome. I THINK, but may be wrong, that there’s a family section of the main restaurant but you can just ask the staff, there’s lots of them and they’re very helpful and friendly.
The evening entertainment is varied and there’s at least one little show, put on by the children with the Petit club staff.
I’m going to a different CM in January but happy to go to Samoens again.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Agree on the layout - it is quite complicated as the hotel contours over the mountain top. There are multiple lifts spread throughout the hotel but not all of them access all floors. For example to get to the restaurant, and depending on your room, you might need to get a lift 3 floors up, walk 500m and then take another lift 2 floors up. It's easy enough once you get the hang of it.

Ok thanks that's great - we had the choice of a room 'near amenities' for £25 a day extra which I thought was a bit steep and cheeky so we didn't go for it - no doubt we will be right at the back of the hotel.
