Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

If you hire skis from the place at Hochbergbahn then they weren't keen on normal shoes being stored there (if you didn't have a locker). They told half our group that we could do that (if there happened to be space on the day) and the other half that they categorically couldn't! But it was very easy to just keep boots at the hotel and wear them on the bus - it leaves from the hotel car park, so you take about 15 steps from the boot room to the bus stop!
If you wanted to go to the Arena or the Glacier then you'd be on a different bus (or train), so you'd just have to take your skis back to the hotel at the end of the day before. There's plenty of storage in the boot room.
The hotel was really lovely - the food was good, and the staff were really nice. Especially Maria who runs the bar, and the nice Greek/Kiwi waiter who has worked at the hotel for years, and started working there when his dad retired from working there (so he took over his dad's role). It's a real family operation.
The thing that was slightly surprising is that breakfast doesn't start until 8, and the first bus is 8.21. So you have to be on it with breakfast if you want the first bus (in reality, breakfast was open from around 7.50, but the official time is
.
As a PP said, there's not much in Ramsau itself, but we were very happy with the hotel bar in the evenings. We had plenty of games (as did many other groups!) and Maria looked after us well.
We ate at Des Iss one evening, and the place right by the train station the other night we had no meal at the hotel. Both very nice, both needed booking (although we were a group of 8 and it was a busy week). One only took cash - something to watch out for!
Austria is a great place to ski - we love it as we have a non-skier in our group, and there's always plenty to keep her busy. You'll have a great time!

That's great stuff.
Thanks very much.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Hi all. Just got back from my week skiing! Just wanted to say I really appreciated the in detail advice regarding runs and lifts etc.
My favourite was blue 14 on Horberg but generally enjoyed all the runs. Thanks again
