Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

EasyJet plus expired

EasyJet plus has expired but we booked flights with it still active so have “free” seat selection and cabin baggage
Does anyone have actual experience of what happens if we turn up without renewing? The website is typically unhelpful.
Thanks

Yes sure it is- just wondering if we’ll get hit for the “extras” that came free with the Plus card.

@Doccam, I should have been clearer, my understanding is no you won't. And they didn't come "free" you paid for them...

You will be fine. Been a member for years.
A little loop hole is to buy all future flights just before it expires to get all the benefits on future flights, then don’t renew until after those trips.

You can stretch the 12 month membership to 18 ish months.

Membership is well worth it. Pays for itself in two return trips, especially with the cost of hand luggage now.

I assume that the headline price of £249 is somehow discounted massively for this to pay for itself. I do not pay for any of the items it covers so it will never cover the cost for me.

A serious question - do people pay for themselves for things like seat allocation or speedy boarding or is all this paid for on company expenses?

@johnE, we've been members for years, self funded, thank you. The luggage itself pays for it. We both probably fly Easyjet at least once a month. It's a no brainer.

As is the platinum Amex to get unlimited Priority Pass lounge access. ... if you tot up benefits vs cost it's also an easy decision (we are in France so there really are no free credit cards).

We've often paid, when travelling as a couple for a holiday, for seat allocation on longer flights, preferably exit row and one each side of the aisle, which has sometimes been combined with other things like larger cabin bags and/or checked hold luggage for one or both of us, and those 'packages' can often include speedy boarding.

Never even been tempted by the Plus thing, as we travel with them far too infrequently for it to be worthwhile. Will check it out again next time, when we'll both be doing a 2-leg trip to th IOM for a wedding, with luggage and a guitar, to see whether it might make it cheaper/better.

So, it kind of depends if you like speedy boarding and seat selection. (Which also guarantees your bag above your head.

If you aren’t bothered then there is no point.
Also depends if you check luggage into the hold, which we never do.
We also fly around once a month.

I’ve just done a price check.
A random return flight to faro in June.

Speedy boarding and hand luggage would cost £137.00 pp return on top of the flight cost.

So easyJet plus is a no brainer.
Also gives you fast track security, 10% discount onboard, free flight changes and a few other perks.

Brilliant thanks for the info. Can relax and only renew when next buying flights.
And as others said it does pay for itself pretty quickly so even our 4-5 trips per year make it worthwhile.
By the way the only agro we have had this year for flight changes/cancellations has been with BA- twice! EasyJet stepped in (or at least had the alternate flight options) both times.
BA customer service were totally unhelpful.

For city breaks I simply take a small carryon bag, don't reserve seats, cannot see the point of speedy boarding, so clearly saving a lot of money. For climbing trips and skiing we put bags in the hold. I do, however, buy a cup of tea on board. The return trip to Lisbon last month cost £130 + £10 for a tea on each leg. It was less expensive than going to Newcastle

ps Lisbon in autumn is a lovely city break.

When I travelled a lot i used Priority pass. I was also BA gold.

I used the priority pass when flying other airlines or to go into an alternative lounge when BA lounges were getting full.

I also had an easyJet Plus when it was £129. However, the only benefit to f EJ+ was speedy boarding and seat selection.

Nowadays you get more things like extra baggage.

However at £249 for EJ+ I would rather get a credit card with all the perks and pay a big fee. That would get you long benefits on any airline and you can then check a flight with good baggage allowance.

Here is one scenario with the most expensive card.

Amex Platinum most expensive card £650 (obviously others are cheaper).

You get free travel insurance, restaurant credit, shopping credit, tunnel perks. Priority pass. Mega airlines that will allow you to book AVIOS flights for 4 snowheads trips. Eg for this year I’m on BA with free ski luggage and it was £79 return.

So I think unless you are flying EJ all the time you are probably better spending the £249 towards a better deal.

PS I only chose the platinum card because it is expensive and I’m n my phone. But as a worse case scenario it is probably better than EJ+ unless you fly EJ all the time.

 You know it makes sense.
You know it makes sense.
@GlasgowCyclops, yeah, you have to do the sums.

We have Amex Plats (French)

Cost €650 / year, for main and secondary

Priority pass x 2 €413 = € 826 so already saving, assuming you fly often enough

Travel Insurance which seems very good, we've been quoted ~€400 each p.a. ... =€800

You get things like €200 reimbursed in nice restaurants, Maya Bay in Monaco was indeed very nice, €200

The points thing is a bit stingy but we got 2 day passes in Champoluc, €110

so outlay, €650, value so far, €1,936 without thinking too hard Happy

I renewed our daughter’s EasyJet Plus card a few weeks ago and used code EJMC001 for a discount. Think you must use a Mastercard.

As she travels hand luggage only it makes sense after about 3 flights, fast track at the UK airports, fast track at Geneva, free seat selection and the larger hand luggage allowance.
She also has a shiny card with BA/One world covered for most flights.

Do find Priority Pass and Dragon Pass nearly useless now.
Edinburgh/Glasgow and Geneva seem to turn you away due to so many people have access through credit cards unless you’ve paid the reservation fee.

@muppet, hmmm, if you go to the lesser used lounges in EDI (aspire) and GVA (Horizon in main hall, and the strange one down the corridor ?it's less of a problem.) The two in the new C wing are rarely busy if your flight goes from there.

But our experience they're certainly not "useless"?

10% Discount last month don’t know if it still works, though worth a try.
