Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

@mountainaddict, I used to spend far too much time at the MK one when Jnr was training at the club. Thankfully, a run down isn’t over in about 12 seconds (slalom).

30 days till I head out to central asia for 2 months. Bit of guiding work, but mostly just touring everyday. Not really the right time of year to get anything after anything steep, but have a tentative idea for a first winter traverse between 2 peaks, plus 2 other peaks I've never done before to tick off. Will be a bit of a training focus, want to get a lot of vertical in (tentative aim is 50,000m) as have a trail running fkt aim for summer with around 7000m elevation gain. Also have a drone now so hoping to make some videos, or at least some cool photos. At least that's a rough plan, we will see what happens in reality!

Then back home for 2 weeks before 14 days in Chamonix. I've not really got anything planned for chamonix, will be using the excellent oak app to join some tours with others looking for partners.

Lining up to be a good winter!

Canada in 6 weeks time for a couple weeks then straight to Japan for as long as I feel like, and then 209 days until the local spots open.

So by my reckoning I’ve got about 8 of the next 11 months on snow. Can’t happen soon enough. Done 6 weeks of summer and over it already.

@Snow&skifan, We have booked a package with Crystal, so our transfer from Verona airport will be in a shared coach. The transfer time is quite long, about 2 hours and 45 minutes to Val di Fassa.

Loving all this excitement. It's now 18 days until we fly to Turin (23rd). I got the ski stuff out at the weekend to do inventory. I'd already bought Eldest a new (Vinted) jacket and salopettes about a month ago as the kid just keeps growing. I only got him his last jacket before our Easter trip, and he's already outgrown that. It's looking like the only things that need replacing are his base layer bottoms, so that's not too bad.

Looking like I'm going to get a day in on plastic next weekend too, with a colleague, just for fun. Chance to warm up the legs!

30 days until we head for Arc 1800. First time skiing in 15 years! And first time skiing at all for the kids, 14 & 10. Really looking forward to it.

Like others, I'm glued to the webcams. Great to see the resort kick into action yesterday, cannons and lifts were going full bore all day. We could still do with a few good dumps of snow at resort level though, in the coming weeks.

A little bit tentative about it, had a bad fall during the year and my left shoulder isn't great. A couple of minor tears in my left rotator cuff & a significant amount of bone bruising around the shoulder socket. If (when) I fall, it has the potential to be extremely sore. I'll be living on ibubrofen for the week.

Arriving on the 04th of Jan for the week, so hoping the New Years crowds will have eased for that when we're there. Staying in Edenarc, which looks a handy spot. An Les Arcs in general looks a decent spot for our level of skiing, good range of pistes and plenty of off piste activities for the kids too if they need a break.

Can't wait. Did I mention there's only 30 days to go!!!!!

I've got a G Form Impact Shirt (a lesson from breaking a rib from an innocuous fall). Not sure it'd help if you're already bruised but highly recommend.

Also stayed at Eden Arc 5 years ago. Really good. Dahu lift into the village is really handy (and you don't need a pass for it and it runs early until late). You're literally 20m from that and also straight onto the run down to the bottom of the lifts. We never came out of the Boot Room door onto the slope though, got the lift back up to reception as the boot room spits you out onto the windy runs down into the village....come up to reception and you've got the Dahu or a quick skip down to the other lifts....

I'll wave from across the valley in La Plagne that week Happy

EDIT: Also, it'll be dead that week. No lift queues if everything is working.

Cheers Paul, had a look at the G Form, they’re interesting but wouldn’t protect what I need.

It’s not so much the impact I’m afraid of, it’s more the over extension of the joint. I still don’t have full mobility in the shoulder and certain movements are a killer. If I was to say, fall out to the side and my arm slides out to full extension under me, that’s not going to be fun. The physio told me if I was snowboarding he’d have advised me not to go but I may get away with it skiing.

I’ve been waiting long enough for this trip, I’m willing to put up with the pain.

Still 30 days!

Off to Superdévoluy (no real mentions in the last 5+ years on SH Shocked Laughing snowHead ) at Feb half term with MiniCF and the OH. Self drive from the Thursday night, tunnel and just take it easy on the way down. Looks a little 'brutal' with some of the architecture, but at the end of the day, we're there to ski, and have some quality family time - oh, and its a Sunweb, so didn't break the bank (unlike LeShuttle, lol)
Just been on the webcams, to see that the cannons have started up and the meadows are starting to turn from green to white.

Second trip is just with the OH, off to Yllas in Northen Finland for a week of XC skiing at the end of March - its definitely going to be an adventure just getting up there (I'll try and do a TR for that one). Literally, planes, trains and automobiles (and a 'cruise' ship too Shocked snowHead )
