 Poster: A snowHead

Hi guys - my first foray back on here since last winter. I hope everyone is well.
We had a sprinkling of snow in South Shields yesterday and its whet my appetite to get back on the mountain....Iv a chance to get away next Thursday 28th November until Sunday 31st November
and will likely be flying into either Geneva or Innsbruck...so im looking to you knowlegable Snowheads to guide me on where to go to get some skiing in please given current conditions and lifts that are open.
I know Chamonix has had plenty of snow this week but I cant seem to find any info as to if theyll open lifts off the back of that? That would be ideal if they did. Is there anymore snow forecast there after this weeks dump?
Any other resorts with plenty of snow and open lifts relatively near to Geneva?
Tignes or Val Thorens could be an option? Again, not so sure about current conditions and lift openings there?
My wildcard is Austria...iv only been to Solden once before and got some skiing up on the glacier on race weekend a couple of years ago but again, unsure of current conditions and lift openings?
Are there other resorts close to Innsbruck better at this time of year than Solden?
Many thanks in advance for any help and advice offered. Im no where near as experienced as a lot of you having only gotten into skiing 5 years ago, so I find your guidance really helpful.
Thanks

The western alps are having a decent amount of snow now....over the weekend, it would seems.
Resorts that open early season - Solden, Ischgl in Austria are usually the best mainstream ones. Tignes, VdI will be open. I'd be very tempted to go to Cervinia in Italy - snow down to village now, it'll be open, very high, easy transfer from Turin or Milan Malpensa

Kuhtai's lifts open on 29th (1 day too late?) and that's really close to Innsbruck

There's only one flight into Innsbruck from the UK at the moment - easyjet from Gatwick. There are more flights from the UK to Salzburg or Munich if you want to ski in Austria.
Kitzsteinhorn near Zell am See is already open for skiing on the glacier. Leogang is due to open next Friday (29th) and the upper slopes already have a good covering of snow-cannon snow. If the promised snow arrives on Friday and Saturday, conditions there should be good enough for a weekend, and if there is a bigger dump of snow the Asitz bowl and possibly the link over to Saalbach might also open (and some Saalbach pistes might also open too). Weather forecasts and webcams can be found on the Bergfex website, and on the tourist office websites.
If you can get a cheap ticket to Salzburg, grab that and then wait until next week before picking your final destination. There will be plenty of accommodation available and you have Kitzsteinhorn as a 100% sure back-up option if Leogang or Saalbach don't open. Zell am See, Kaprun, Leogang and Saalbach can all be reached by train or Postbus from Salzburg. Postbus 260 leaves from outside the Airport arrivals hall.

@PortSki, I'd go further west, where the snow is. We've had a light dusting around Innsbruck, and there should be a bit more to come, but at the moment we are catching the edge of the storm that hitting the French and Swiss alps. Personally, I would fly into Geneva and see what's open – operating dates will be on the resort websites, and if you catch the opening weekend you might find some other events on too.

Ischgl opens on the 28th, easy from Innsbruck. Usually a very good spot early season.

@PortSki, Grands Montets may open limited lifts next Saturday (Friday?) - I wouldn't book anything until that was confirmed ...

 You know it makes sense.

Unfortunately Cham (Grands Montets) did not open this weekend - and I'm not sure they will next weekend either. Go to Val Tho!
