Well strictly, the article doesn't say that she'll be racing, but training with the team. And also suggests she's there to mentor. I reckon it'll be a miracle if she actually races.

Looks like she’s certainly aiming for it though.
“I’m trying not to get too far ahead of myself because I have quite a few hoops to jump through,” Vonn said via the New York Times. “Obviously, I wouldn’t be doing this if I didn’t hope to be racing. I have aspirations. I love to go fast. How fast can I go? I don’t know.
“But I’m not going to put myself in a position to fail. My goal is to enjoy this, and hopefully that road takes me to World Cup races. I wouldn’t be back on the U.S. ski team if I didn’t have intentions.”
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I am doing this to inspire the team
I am doing this to enjoy myself
DO NOT SAY I am doing this because I'm desperate for attention vs that sassy little whore and her famous boyfriend
........
And what news of the training crash reported on the FIS thread?

I was never a big fan, but Vonn's comeback is an amazing story. To be competitive in speed events at 40 is incredible. To do that on an artificial knee having been "cut up for scrap" 5 years ago is just a whole new level.
And it gave me the chance to "amuse" my kids over lunch on our recent ski jollies with the story of Lyndsey's cows.

Brilliant skier and athlete. Still has that rare bravery to dive down pistes at up to 70mph. I recall Daron Rahlves explaining years ago that the moment any reticence enters the back of their mind as a skier of Downhill, normally in your early 30’s, the game is up because you won’t match those still skiing 100%.
LV at 41, incredible.

Well I thought it would end with her ebbing away if not a nasty crash but a 1-2 after a full off season of conditioning is a fair statement of intent. Shows the bionic woman was not just a tv show.

Aksel as her coach....must be a factor
And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

She's amazing how she has come back from injury with not an ounce of doubt and blew the competition away at St Moritz!
I hope she can keep this winning form and grab some gold at Cortina in Feb!
So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

Agreed. Quite remarkable and a truly amazing experience - the oldest winner of a WC downhill race, either men or ladies, eclipsing Didier Cuche by 4 years

Totally agree, not forgetting skiing with a partial knee replacement, which was more complex as it was lateral rather than medial.
