Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Are there any safe/marked touring routes I could do solo next week? Got some new kit, with pin bindings so want to check everything out and suspect will be a bit of faff hence not wanting to join with a group!!

There aren’t marked touring routes but there is plenty of stuff which is pretty straightforward in good viz eg Rosablanche. I can give you some options. But if I were you I would create a profile on the Oak app and create a looking for partner activity with your objectives for the dates you are there. It’s safer and more fun with a partner. I know a couple of people at different expérience levels who will also be looking for ski partners. You’d be surprised how many people want to go touring, can’t afford a guide and don’t know how to find partners

@BobinCH, Thanks - I was considering Oak but also worried about being slow the first time and wanting to check my kit all worked inc the different risers etc etc. Perhaps if I put that up front or did the faff late one afternoon and walked up a side of a piste then that might also work!

@kitenski, you’ll be fine. There’ll be plenty of people who would benefit from your experience. Here’s a good list of ski tour options from super easy to more challenging. I can dig out my Strava routes for most of them if you need

Decent week in 4V good pistes some chalky off piste on N facing slopes a few more rocks than sometimes. Thursday night was cloudy so lower slopes had not refrozen as we left Sat morning I suspect the same was true as it felt quite warm.

Only queue we encountered entire week was for Jumbo cable car as the world free ride tour was brought forward and a lot of people wanting to watch it in bright sun. Watched a couple of the runs then off for lunch.

@BobinCH, went for a dog walk...or at least tried to.
My usual route along some zig-zag forest and field tracks had to be abandoned due to the number of fallen trees.

I scrabled and climbed past three and then got a look along the next couple.of hundred yards. Tree, tree, tree...I gave up.

Sorry to hijack this weather thread - but thinking of heading out for a last minute weekend ski trip.

Would the Verbier lifts be back up and running and pistes skiable by tomorrow or by Saturday? Looking at the snow forecast it doesn't look like it's meant to snow much again over the coming weekend.

And would on piste snow quality be relatively ok?

Any feedback would be great! Thanks Little Angel

@lastminuteflier, the snowfall has now stopped.
I'm 100pct sure it will be mostly open tomorrow for piste skiing.
Avi risk will he super high so off piste...not for me anyway.

Pistes were already in great condition for the time of year, top to bottom.

This amount of snow will ensure pistes are good all.the way to full closure on the 27th.
From Monday it will only be a few lifts, but the main runs will all be accessible, top to bottom.

It's the end of April!
If you are expecting cold.powder...that's not what we've got.
If you are expecting plenty of skiing, on near empty pistes, and not a blade of grass or stone to be seen on the pistes.
.that is what we've got.

Thanks @rungsp! More than happy to piste ski hard morning April type conditions, and then on spring corn in the afternoon (as long as there's a base there and it's not total mush!).

I was in Verbier this time last year and very happy with the skiing above Ruinettes. Medran run home was fairly ropey / muddy while I was there, but to be expected that late in the season.

The trails are in excellent condition.

There is enough snow to last, from peak to creek, well into May.
