Hello - does anyone know if you can get a taxi from La Rosiere to La Thuile? And how much it might cost? Thanks

You can probably get a taxi but I don't think you'll like the price. It's a long journey in winter.

@CosmoJo, the road from La Rosiere in France to La Thuile in Italy is actually the ski area and as such closed in winter - you have to go an AWFULLY long way around (probalby via the Mont Blanc Tunnel would be fastest).
There is a small village called La Thuile slightly frther up the Tarentaise valley from La Rosiere (just above Sainte Foy Tarentaise) but I've no idea if that's what you want, or how much a taxi would be

As it happened, the Col du Petit Saint Bernard (the road in question) closed at 10am this morning, will re-open next spring

@CosmoJo, as said sbove, in winter all the relevant passes are closed and so it's a long way around via MontBlanc tunnel or further via the Frejus. In summer I guess you can get a taxi.
I'm curious as to why?

I have a colleague who went to La Thuile as beginner boarder. He boarded over to La Rosiere and then on the return kept falling off the drag. As it was near the end of the day he eventually gave up and walked up. So you don't have to use the drag lift but I didn't get the impression that he enjoyed the experience!

Thanks for the replies and the guesses as to why I asked the question  We are staying in La Rosiere for a holiday but my son is working in La Thuile for the season. I was trying to work out if we would be reliant on skiing between the two resorts or if we could manage an evening together. He has to be back in resort early each morning for work and first lifts in the morning would be too late.

Yeah, but you might be able to find a taxi driver who's prepared to it a crack like the van driver did last year

Long lunch in La Thuile it is then , nor exactly a hardship , plenty of wonderful restaurants, 3.45pm is about the latest you can make it last but that’s by the skin of your teeth .

Not sure if you're in a hotel/apartment but could he stay with you on his day off and then you'd at least get one evening together? We did that with my niece when she was working in a different resort to where we were staying

There are at least two of many places around and about. Like there are several "Newports" or "Yarmouths" or "Actons" or "Aberffrwds" in the UK. That's why talk of "Val" or "Bourg" is so irritating. There are several places called "Col de la Forclaz" (I don't know how many - just googled it to have Google's AI me there's only one, which is definitely wrong).

Just be aware that if you buy your lift pass in La Rosiere then it's first use every day has to be in La Rosiere and vice versa in La Thuile. Not sure if that's the case on a season pass though.

@CosmoJo, by itself resort height is pretty pointless metric, La Thuile will have better snow conditions for the majority of the season primarily because it's slopes have a Northern aspect whereas La Rosiere faces South but also because the majority of La Thuile's slopes are slightly higher than La Rosiere's slopes even if the resort itself is lower.

@CosmoJo, I would stay in La Thuile but that’s because it’s got great restaurants. It is very well suited to intermediates . I know there are beginner areas and the flatish plateau is very well suited for a beginner to progress to .m

Halfway up from La Thuile to la Rosiere is a restaurant called lo Riondet (https://www.loriondet.it/) - I've had several very pleasant lunches there in summer. An alternative in la Thuile is Pepita - instructors from la Rosiere go there when they want a leisurely lunch in winter.

Had to ask as the French one is easily doable from La Rosiere - just a bit further up the Isere valley.

If you can, there's every reason to swap, not least that your son will (hopefully) be there! It'll save you that €1000 taxi ride!! 
All the runs in La Ros are variations on the same face of the mountain, reds/blacks go straight down, the blues traverse a bit more, but it's all pretty uniform and boring. It does have a lot of convenient accommodation ski-in, ski-out or very close to the piste. There are nice views across the valley towards Les Arcs. You can always ski over to explore it from La Thuile on a nice day.
Beginners in La Thuile learn on the mid-mountain plateau. There's a lot of variation on the La Thuile side, the main bowl which steepens at the top, the steep wooded drop-offs into the village, the lovely runs on the back side toward the Pass with views of Mont Blanc, then the long red runs out wide both sides back to the village. The only downside might be that some of the accommodation is a bit of a walk to the lifts. There is a ski bus that goes around though.

The best ever ski week I had on European continent was in La Ros Jan 2023. While over in La Thuile wind stripped pistes and on higher lifts you could see grass and stones protruding.
Just to say that anecdotal evidence should not be presented as a universal truth.
