@PrimroseAndBlue, It's been ok. We opened late but then it snowed a reasonable amount in mid Dec. It was a bit dry over Christmas/New Year but the last couple of weeks have improved. Most of all it's been cold enough for the cannons to run regularly so there's always been enough runs open. Now we're actually having real snow everything else without cannon cover is opening up. It's snowed most of the day today up in the mountains.

The weather looks too warm for the next 2 weeks. Anyone else seeing this? I know there's been a fair amount of snow in recent weeks, but i'm concerned by the time i go on the 1st it'll be very patchy and it'll be too warm for the snow machines.
What are the current depths in arcalis and pas?

Warm weather in itself isn’t a problem. Warm weather and half term crowds is more of an issue.

I'm out on the 23rd, think it will be fine. Some forecasts aren't showing it being overly warm either btw and snow is on some forecasts for the end of next week and the following week.

@halfhand, @Mrmeaner, there's pretty much more open than there has been all season at the moment. It's warm down low in ALV, but higher up it's getting up to 5C so not too bad. Clearly a thermometer directly in the sun might show much higher but that's not really the air temperature.
There's a bit of snow forecast for the weekend, so next week should be good.

A 10cm top up at the weekend will be ideal to stave off melting, it looks like it might cool back down again too after the weekend.

@halfhand, @Mrmeaner, I'm off work next week so want tip top conditions too! Ideally where I'm not having to ski pistes all week. I don't mind it, but it's pretty much all I've done all season so far!

@halfhand, you’d be surprised. I rarely moan about the pistes/conditions unless I’m taking chunks out of my bases or I can’t see a thing.
Have a great week.

It didn’t snow loads on Saturday. Same today, there was a bit but not much. More forecast on Friday. Fingers crossed.
Weirdly quiet this week. I didn’t queue for a lift at all today.

I'm flying out tomorrow, and have 3 days in grandvalira, sunday/monday in pas de la casa. What we're debating is where to go on saturday, as we'll be staying in ordino.
I'd prefer to go to pal/arcalis (more of old time sake) - what are conditions like in both these places? Seems like most pistes are open.

It should snow a little tonight according to the forecast. I’d go to Arcalis. It’ll be much quieter. Grandvalira will be busy with it being a holiday weekend.

It's still snowing this morning but particularly heavy. A dusting on the cars here in Soldeu.

There was 5-7cm of snow at pal which was nice, although it seemed to be settled on poorer quality icy snow from last week.

I had my best two day’s skiing of the season Friday and yesterday. Friday at Pal/Arinsal piste bashing and yesterday going anywhere we fancied in Arcalis.

Day 1 in Baqueira. Perfectly acceptable, lovely fresh, I guess a few inches fell in the last couple of days (dusting on the trees above Vielha). It’s pushed around by the holiday weekend traffic and some ice patches underneath on the steeper parts of red runs.

We’ve had a dusting of snow over the last few nights and a bit more today. Current forecast for the end of the week is for a decent amount of snow but equally indecent winds.

We had a cheeky weekend in Ax 3 domaines.
The French side had no wind, so the cloud didn't budge much until late on Saturday afternoon. The snowfall on Friday night was fairly damp, general conditions were good at the top, with around 15cm of fresh, compact below 2000m becoming like a race prepared piste in places then to the last 100m vertical being a tad soupy. Basically it was skiing a whole season's conditions in one run.

Looks like a fair amount of snow forecast towards the end of the week in the Grandvalira though mainly above 2000m as seems quite warm- at least a lot of the slopes are above 2000m- hopefully will be enough hanging around when I come mid April- I guess if I have to download in the Soldeu gondola due to the lower slopes taking a beating with rain not a disaster if you can ski most runs above it.

Heavy snow down to resort level. Temps below freezing. Mid April will be a stretch if you're expecting winter conditions, it's well into springtime by then. Last year was a major exception. I just came back and whilst it wasn't bad, there were definitely quite a few thinning pistes

@hammerite, they both have their charm. They make a concerted effort at Porte to try and open a weekend before the rest of the resorts, so its always a good option to go early December and wreck your old skis!
Ax is nice, because Bonascre is at 1400m you get a fairly decent drop from top to bottom compared to the other resorts towards the med. The plateau at the top of the Gondola can be a pain to negotiate on busier days.

Thanks yes it's 7th-14th April so I appreciate v late- just hope they don't close the resort early!

@moody_git, sounds interesting. Thanks.
@Dr. Will, It’s in the balance for mid April. Could be great, could be awful or anywhere in between. If you have a car Arcalis is the best bet. The current snow forecast is looking good higher up with the possibility of some reasonable snow down to village level after the initial rain. Hopefully that will balance the rain out.

Thanks good shout on Arcalis, it seems to def be predicted to do the best out of the snow coming! Interestingly it is included in the Grandvalira ski pass now- we don't have a car but might be able to take advantage of the free bus there for one day of the week.

@Dr. Will, it’s been part of the Grandvalira pass for at least the last 4 years. For the past 3 years, the whole of Andorra is included in the GV pass.
I’ve managed to ski Arcalis into 20-something April since I’ve been here. Although last day of last season, we skied for about 2 hours before decamping to the local barbecue area and getting thoroughly sun burnt.
