Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Transfer advice

 Poster: A snowHead

Hi folks!

This is my first post, apologies if it's been answered elsewhere or needs to be moved.

I've organised a trip for some pals to the 3 valleys for the 13th-20th of December. All sorted and booked, inc transfers.

One of our number has been instructed by his "lovely" girlfriend that he is only allowed to be with us from the 13th to the 17th and he must then return home to his state of domestic bliss.

The difficulty is finding any consistent information about how he might travel from our accoms in Les Menuires back to Lyon airport solo in time for his 17:40 flight. A private transfer is coming up at between £300-£400, and as it's a tuesday the weekly coach transfers seem to be out of the question. I did read somewhere that a local bus could take him to Moûtiers and then a train to Lyon should be easy to hop on, but now I'm struggling to re-find that info.

Does anyone have any suggestions or guidance for me? It's my first time organising a trip so forgive my naivety.
Thanks
GBW

Twisted knee - clinic says he can't travel until the 20th - so sad...

But yes, there's an early morning (0645) altibus to Moutiers (https://booking.altibus.com/), then a 0921 train to Lyon (change at Chambery; https://www.sncf-connect.com/). The trams from Lyon station to the airport are pretty regular.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

You can look on the altibus.com website for the local bus journey to Moutiers where he can catch a train which you can look up on SNCF from Moutiers into Lyon Part Dieu via Chambery then the tram, Rhonexpress, out to Lyon airport

I've relayed all of this to him. I've been watching the Les Mens webcams since the snowfall last week and really I'm now using the forum to try and make the next 10 weeks hurry up. @Shakira I have also relayed this (frankly superb) idea to him!

You're all lovely - thanks for the very speedy responses

I so want the "lovely" gf to invade Snowheads, shrieking that no one will be "'aving a gammy knee" on her watch, so it can all go a bit Jerry-Ski-Springer.

Priorities seem all wrong here. Far from sorting a transfer out he should be looking for another girlfriend, surely? snowHead

@fallingwithnostyle,
Can he fly back from Geneva? Would open more transfer options.
Or could he negotiate? Example:- the extra cost of returning early will impact what I can spend on your Xmas pressie/duty free perfume. wink

 You know it makes sense.

@fallingwithnostyle, A good start might be blablacar to see if there are any lifts, but otherwise look at the usual sources such as SNCF from Moutiers, Altibus etc. and think about multimodal such as train the Chambery followed by flixbus or blablacar bus to the airport.

I've done this many times and it can work very well, but there are generally only two or three coaches a day between Chambery and Lyon airport so you have to be lucky with your timings.

There are many more coaches between Grenoble station and Lyon airport but it's more of a dog-leg so you can add an hour to the overall journey time - and would need to change trains at Montmelian.

Let his lovely gf sort it if she's so keen to have him back. Sounds like a relationship on shaky grounds already unless he was the one taking the wee wee by planning something without buy-in on child care etc. No kids IMV she should grow the feck up.

Bus to Moutiers then train would seem obvious though.
