Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

@Chico, indeed, fingers are crossed.

@klanfa, I would imagine Les C is pretty good being generally higher than St G. But @jedster might pop by with current experience.

Looks like a few more of the lower runs have closed now and assume other low runs reasonably scraped/thin and icy?

Arriving this coming Friday evening for 4 days. The forecast looks like a lottery but trending a bit too warm, possibly with rain well up to mid mountain...

Anyone out there with the a view on current conditions? Looking forward to it either way

Was at Les C today, had a really good day. Skied from opening to close and pistes stayed in really good condition, only some ice by the end of the day and only in the most scraped up areas. Not too busy either.

Les Conta was better today than last Sunday as they have made plenty of snow to cover most of the icy sections, most of it skied very well today.

Excellent good to hear! The Mont D'Arbois slopes are nearest us and saw more closed than a week ago so was wondering. Forecast still all over the place, currently showing heavy rain up to 1800 metres on Thursday Shocked so hoping that it swings away to something better again, fingers crossed!

Does anyone know how long it takes on the bus between Megève and Les C? Thinking that would be worth a trip one of our days there.

Megeve to Conta would require Y82 and then Y84 so nearly an hour not including transfer waiting time

Was in les contamines today, snow is good on piste particularly up at the highest parts unsurprisingly.

It was busy (and took longer than expected )getting up on the gondolas as all the car parks filled up but never felt busy on piste. Worth a visit if you can, took us about 15min in a car from saint gervais. So may not be worth it from Megeve, also looks like snow on the way.

Pistes in saint Gervais and Megeve are holding up well.

@Origen, might be worth a look ta. The lure of Les C was tempting but imagine we'll have more than enough in the 4 days we have directly around Megeve.

Fingers crossed on new snow, looks somewhat promising though currently looks like it may pee it down with rain next 2 days, here's hoping the freezing level is a little lower than the forecast

Just back from a great weekend in saint Gervais. What a lovely area will be back.

Pistes yesterday were empty quiet, the cote 2000 area was empty, a lot of the time it was just us on the piste.

Getting a little hard in places and some of the pistes that didn’t have snow making were getting hard and the odd patch of ice but still in good condition but will benefit from a top up.

Jaillet was great yesterday, beautiful skiing, sunshine and not busy on the slopes. Will do St Gervais Mont d'Arbois today again - it was great on Monday. Some pistes we were the only ones. Very quiet at St Nicolas.

It looks like a bit of snow early this week but it could do with the temperature dropping a bit more as it seems like there’s a bit of rain in there too. Heading out on Thursday so hoping there’s a bit of a top up and it doesn’t all get washed out by the rain.

@Chico, we had a look up there this morning and did a few runs but quickly thought better of it and headed home. Rain even at the top, gusty winds and clouds drifting through bringing patches of low visibility. However the snow was holding up reasonably and the expectation seems to be that precipitation Tuesday and Wednesday will be snow. Fingers crossed for later in the week.

Forecast certainly looks like the FL dropping into the evening tonight and snow tomorrow, potentially a decent amount (although I am only looking at SnowForecast).

It looks cold after that even at village level, so I would expect the pistes to be in good condition later in the week anyway.

I'm going out Thursday night for 4 days of skiing, not been to Megeve before.

We've just finished our 3rd day, don't think we could have had more different conditions each day so far! Saturday in the Mont d'Arbois, Mount Joux & Mont Joly areas. Great skiing and very enjoyable, busy in the pinch point up to Mont Joux but really not too busy.

Lovely yesterday with the new snow, we stayed on the Alpette/ Cote 2000 area which was great with deep fluffy snow higher-up and off piste like on piste in a couple of places.

Today ... not so great, now very, very damp!

I was over in La Jaillet area today and a few spots of rain but nothing serious.
Was surprised by the amount of tree debris on the pistes of StG when we were making our way back.
Out at 9.30 & back at 16.30.
Also heard that LC was closed today.
@j b, last night tonight, might see you in town later.

@Jonny996, absolutely right on tree debris, must have been very windy last night, loads all over the pistes.

Unfortunately I don't think I've ever seen rain like this evening in a ski resort in what would traditionally be considered mid winter, unreal Shocked

Looks to have snowed down to town level in Megeve overnight, with quite a bit up higher.

Avie risk 4 today. Lots of things moved during PIDA (Plan intervention declecment avalanches).
Cote 2000 top lift closed, took an hour more than normal to get some of the lifts started today.
Lower sections beware its fresh snow on mud!
Tomorrow will be a great day, but will be slow to open again.
Some of the lift crew start an hour early, and the avie crew at 5 am on days like today. but the rest of us can't get up the mountain till the lifts turn.

Lots of powder this morning, many pistes, at least early in the nornt, were off piste on piste. Absolutely lovely on the upper parts, lower part of Scion now very lumpy and a bit of a leg burner. Recharging with coffee and tarte aux pommes! Very Happy

Thanks for all the weather updates. They have been especially heartening today, bearing in mind I am heading to St Gervais for 3 days from Friday.

I had initially thought of spending a day in each area exploring. I realise that this involves a cable car to Cote 2000 and bus across Megeve to Jaillet. Which day would be best to tackle each, bearing in mind it will be over the weekend (Fri, Sat, Sun)?

Also, I have had a message to say that one of the party is hiring a guide for some off pisting on Saturday. I wasn’t sure how good EMB was for off piste but presumably after the current dump there will be some decent areas for the guide to lead us to?

Thanks again for any help.

Somewhat of an aside, but any recommendations where to watch 6 Nations in Megeve?

@EdYarker, it's not too difficult to get from St Gervais to Cote 2000. There's a short cable car across from the Mont d'Arbois side to Cote 2000 and there can be queues at the end of the day there as it's a little bit of a pinch point.

I'd suggest heading that way first thing, up and down Mont d'Arbois and over to Cote 2000, spend most of the day there before heading home. There was loads of lovely fluffy snow over in Cote yesterday, sadly now back in the UK!

Thanks @jedster, @Rowlski, I think after the good snowfall this week, I would be silly to pass up the chance of skiing with a guide. That sorts my Saturday. Friday is our first day, so maybe best ski the local areas then, which leaves Cote 2000 for Sunday.. that is our transfer day but it isn’t until 18.00, so shouldn’t be an issue.

I can save Jaillet for another time!

Sorry @bobmcstuff, I’ve not researched Megeve for nightlife but I am sure you will find somewhere. I was worried about watching in St Gervais but was given 2-3 confident options by Snowheads. Have fun.

@bobmcstuff, I reckon Bar Pizzeria des Alpes will have the rugby on. Had sports on when we were in there. It has a great selection of beers and we really liked it, much more to our tastes than the fancy high end bars you mainly find in the centre with the Gucci clad crew!

Thanks for all the updates. We arrived yesterday and first day on the slopes is today. We’ve got a private lesson first thing to help orientate ourselves a bit and brush off some of the inevitable summer rust! I was surprised to see that the red run down into St G looked to be open. Although from what I could see from the road it also looked pretty scraped and not many people were coming down it.

@Jonny996, I did wonder about the home run, they were running the cannons on it during my visit a few weeks ago, which seemed an expensive thing to do given the low altitude, do they try and open it for the French holidays?

yes it takes the pressure off the down lift but TBH it is a rather tricky red & there are many people on it that you know regretted that coice.
