@Mollerski, do you know the name of the waiter at the Flora. Young, not a lot of hair, never stops, big arms!

Wednesday’s run: 460 bus from Badia to Colfosco to start a journey to La Longia - 10,5km run (aka 007 James Bond run). Shame visibility wasn’t great and wet sugar conditions at the bottom. Happy times squeezing 14 in the fire pit hut at Pauli’s. Fab food there. Thursday’s snow still good up top and slushy lower down. Some big moguls out there, esp red16 at Piz la Ila and Bamby. But better than icy conditions so not complaining. Snowing last night so looking forward to Friday and Lagazuoi.

I've just booked for next March and just about to book for January (still deciding on Christmas) so will definitely check out the burgers next year. We went in once for pizza last week and the waitress recognised us which was really nice. |

We could've shared. We have an 8 seater Vito with only 4+driver onboard. What were you quoted for transfers?
Crystal essentially 'buy' rooms in advance at the Flora and a few other hotels in Selva. Once they're gone, your access to a given hotel via Crystal is unavailable. That doesn't mean that there isn't availability. As spoken about at length on this site, DIY doesn't necessarily save a great deal of money, but it does give a lot more flexibility. Easyjet BRS fly Fridays and Sundays. The Fri flight is early, by flying out on a Fri and back on a Sun, we have 8.5 days of skiing, which is a proper treat.

Just to add a note -- Crystal/TUI do flight only which gives you access to the transfer bus (not cheap tho'.....!)

You're not kidding, just about £1000 for both of us!!!!!
The cheapest transfer I could find was 600 Euros return which is OK if there are more than two of you. We can't really fly on a Friday either as this eats into our annual leave, oh how I wish we could retire! You weren't there last week were you, one of my friends was speaking to someone in the boot room who explained how to do the 8.5 day trip.

I thought she might be Mother. She has a very stern look, they all do apart from Lubo. She had defrosted by the end of the week and I think she appreciated my attempts at German. She was also lovely on our last morning and made sure we could have breakfast before we left.

We pay a bit less, but it's split 4 ways. That was Jim. He's one of our gang. He was there with a friend and son whom are not a part of mob.

Valentini is frustratingly variable. We call it 'The last Bar on The Hill'. It can go from crazy busy to 'don't bother stopping'. It tends to be more lively in Jan than March when the Scandis (mostly Icelandic) are in town. If they open the outside bar, bang out AC/DC and not oompah durge, the place rocks. Especially when a whole bunch of ridiculously attractive Icelandic ladies line dance to the whole thing. What's not to like?

Lagazuoi closed today. Drat. But had an awesome day on fabulous snow. Skied from Piz la Ila to Jimmy’s hut for a coffee stop. Then several lifts and runs and lunch (booked) at Ute Ciampac. Visibility improved and the sun came out briefly. Good return route. Last day tomorrow - no plans yet. The fresh snow was very welcome.

No we were in a group of four that sat very near his table in the restaurant. The northern couple were next door to him.

Leaving today. Big snow dump last night and this morning so anyone arriving now is in for a treat. Proper Narnia out there. Went to Arabba yesterday - heard the crack and boom of an avalanche - lunch at Burz - great pizzas. Bit of a slush fest but had a lovely time as always. Reserved for next year already.

Report from a friend living out there: Skiing chaos today, you were lucky to miss it… slopes opened then power outage hit the valley. Lifts Col Alto, Braia Fraida and Val Setus all taken out of action. This weeks visitors had decided to ski to AB although I said stay in VG…limited communication cos internet and phones went down. When I finally found them i suggested we head straight back to VG as Gardena Pass closed. Borest lift out of action so we had to bus to Colfosco . Then found out that Val Setus fixed but Cir lift out of action

Staying next week in malga ciapela. Got a car. Most of the family are beginner/first time skiers, and my oldest is intermediate/needs something abit more challenging. Any ideas where we should spend our 4 days? Ideally somewhere not too far from malga. Thx!

The options I found so far are: Alleghe/Civetta (seems close, like 15 mins drive), Arabba (40 mins) Alta Badia such as Corvara / Colfosco (almost 1 hour), Carezza (also about 1 hour, but pistes seem abit too thinly spread out). Any and all feedback welcome.

Alleghe is a good option.... I'd check the conditions though as it's quite low. The Arabba slopes from capela are too advanced, even the piste in arabba aren't for beginners. Look at parking at Campolongo just before Corvara and go up the Cherz lift, loads of Blues..... not withstanding the usual..... get lesson for the beginners

@honky2, if the pass is open (not sure of the situation in winter) I would drive to Penia and use Ciampac gondola to access the Val di Fassa slopes or up the cable car to access the main Sella Ronda area via Belvedere rather than Arabba. Or head to Falcade to ski the Falcade/ San Pellegrino area. Also agree that Alleghe is a good option

Go to the Sport Hotel Teresa in Badia. We had a beginner in our group. Go left 5 min drive to nursery slope at Sta Croce. Baby Crusc button lift. Or green run halfway to La Villa. Lots of blue runs from top of Piz la Ila gondola.

Some decent amounts showing on Bergfex for next week, 20-30cm expected higher up in some areas. Enough to get me thinking that a last-minute late-season skiing would be quite nice if I managed to find decent flights and reasonably priced accommodation... From there it only took a moment of weakness (or brilliance) to take the plunge so I'm off to San Martino di Castrozza tomorrow for two final days of skiing this season. It will be our first time in San Martino (we usually go to Alta Badia), so very much looking forward to it.

@maquibr, could be tremendous, fresh snow, sunny and empty.
Have you ever been so late before? I would appreciate if you could keep us all updated on how things are on piste etc.
I have a season pass this year and was wondering if I could squeeze another week out of it.

Hi, me and a friend are going to be staying in Canazei (val di Fassa) for 2 days of skiing on April 1st & 2nd. This is our first time in the dolomites, any recommendations for where we should ski that has good snow and fun skiing? Thanks

From Val di Fassa, Arabba is easily accessible.
The forecast is on the warm side however Arabba is quite shaded and there are some excellent blacks and reds.
Much of the Val Gardena stuff is shaded also, Ciampinoi side and Monte Pana.
