Hi all, does anyone know when the Alpinium (La Praz) carpark will be available to book online? Heading out next week and want to leave the car underground for two week.
Thanks!

Woken up to light snow, the odd heavy shower coming through. Maybe 5cm at Chaudanne.

Superb conditions in the 3V. A decent dump of snow last night and then all day today. Sunshine predicted for a few days next week too. Can’t ask for more for mid December skiing.
We were the only skiers on the Faon run (from top of tournette yesterday. Literally just no one.

at least 15cm on the car today and still coming down. The pistes have been excellent other than the Les Men side quick a few hadn't been groomed and some loose pebbles on top. but should be stunning tomorrow.

After a dump and a day and a half of whiteout/bad visibility the sun came out this afternoon. Conditions underfoot are outstanding. There is off-piste available but beware of the rocks. Les Men/VT/Meribel.

Over in 1650 a few stones around there, and a few more now poking through at the top of Pas du Lac back down to the Meribel side, still great snow around 1850 and if the forecast rings true it'll be superb!

All still good in Les M & VT but a top up on Thursday won’t go amiss.

We arrive on Saturday looks like it’ll have just snowed and then again Sunday, I’ll be happy with that. If it’s sunny the rest of the week I won’t be complaining providing the pistes are in good condition.

Pistes are in superb condition for the time of year, far less stones than most years.
VT ludicrously crowded; better snow and much, much quieter pistes in Courchevel and Les Menuires. West side of Meribel above St Martin deserted.

just back from 6 days, stayed in Meribel centre, spent about 95% of our time skiing the Courchevel side! Great snow overall, some of the best piste conditions I've had early season for quite some time, the warm spell for the past few days didn't really affect the snow in the most over that side, lovely grippy snow. There were some stones coming through in a few areas, and the runs down to Mottaret were pretty brown yesterday. However the north facing Coulour des Belges still had soft light snow in it at noon yesterday.
But this drop in temps and forecast snow is going to set up the next two weeks to be superb. Reports out there say snowing above 2000m this morning.

Was bucketing it down all afternoon but the freezing level is down to 550m overnight and it's currently dumping snow everywhere at lower resort levels. Tomorrow super cold with light snow in the morning and sunshine in the afternoon. It's gonna be good!

Hi!
I'll be staying in Mottaret a week in January, up in Hameau. For renting skis, are any of the shops up there more recommended than others?
Thanks!

Welcome top up of snow last night. Sunny and cold now, so conditions very good.
Pity then that the only way over towards Meribel from 1850 is the old 4 person Chenus gondola, which frequently stops for a few minutes. No Vizelle, Saulire cable car or Coqs chairlift open. Hope they have a good excuse considering the cost of the pass!

@PeakyB, Coqs is only running in school holidays. Vizelle & Saulire were running earlier this week (prob either windy or doing avi control up higher before opening), or you can go lower and take Plantrey and then Lanches (although that also not open at the moment but was on Mon/Tues/Wed this week!)

@kitenski, yes it’s high winds at altitude that’s closed the links. Plenty to do in the Courchevel valley.
Just that I was aiming to get to Meribel Medical Centre. I need to retrieve gear left behind by my ski buddy, who was treated there after breaking his leg 2 days ago.
Will need to do tomorrow now.

My mother had excellent service with a good range of good condition equipment from the Intersport up in the Hameau last year, can't tell you how it compares with the others though.

I'm hoping those who know the 3V well, particularly in spring, will be able to help me. I'm trying to decide where to stay 12th-19th April. There are some options in Meribel / Mottaret and Les Menuires that looks like they would suit us but I'm wondering what those resorts would be like that week, considering they 3V closes 21st April this season.
I've been to VT during the last week of 3V opening and skied through those villages and got the impression that they were very much winding down for the end of the season, with limited lifts open (although still in the case of Les Menuires excellent skiing). Will supermarkets etc still be open? I'm not particularly fussed about bars or restaurants.
Basically, we need somewhere to buy food and enough lifts to get us to decent skiing and ideally ski back to the apartment.

I probably wouldn’t stay in VT or Les minuires then. Courcheval 1650 or meribel centre would still have life on them - also the supermarkets would still be open.
A ski in ski out apartment would realistically mean staying at Rond point or Mottaret areas of the meribel valley. But I’d probably advise not bothering with ski in ski out and stay more centrally as the shuttle buses are free and v regular.

@snowqueen50, why wouldn't you stay in VT or Les Menuires then? VT will be fully open, so would be my first choice if budget and accommodation options allowed.
I'm surprised at the suggestion of Courchevel 1650 that late in the season as that seemed completely dead when I skied over there and is very much out on a limb. Admittedly we didn't hang over there or go into the village as it was raining. I may be missing something on this, though.

Just that there are a few good places to eat and shop still open - and an alternative to the other side of the valley. V easy to get up to 1850 and courcheval always look after their runs v well.
I guess I just prefer the scenery over meribel courcheval way at Easter time. VT is great for budget accommodation and snow sure - but as I live in meribel - I prefer it and the trees of the meribel/courch valley and am completely biased

@sugarmoma666, supermarkets and most shops in Les Menuires would still be open, as 12-19 Apr falls in the Easter holiday.
I definitely wouldn’t stay in Moriond 1650 that late. Realistically, the likelihood of best snow is Val Thorens and the higher slopes of Les Menuires and Mottaret. La Masse and Mont Vallon too.
OK, the north facing slopes above Courchevel 1850 could be good but it’s a long way from there to Val Thorens and back most days, where the most extensive good snowy slopes is likely.
If Les Menuires, and you’re not bothered about restaurants and apres, I think the Reberty / Bruyeres mini villages would be a good option. Mottaret OK too.
