Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

@negativeyardage, doubt it!
It’s not very user friendly
Might consider taking it out before deadline then re parking to gain the “ first” free 2 hours if that makes sense

Just back. Great snow higher up very wet lower down. Had to give in when the water finally penetrated everything. Not too many folk left on the mountain.

Don't know how to embed the image. A good dump in progress variable to poor vis lower slopes like cement later today into Le Lac etc.

Finally closed the runs to Les Breviers.

It’s been snowing / raining most of the day in le lac (got soaked this morning following my son on his lesson!) but seems to have cooled a bit in the last hour and snow is finally settling at resort level.

Snowing in Les Brévières heavily now too.

Felt sorry for the wee ones I'm ski school on the Les Brévières nursery slope when I was heading home.

Starting to stick on the roads in VC. Could well be restricted openings tomorrow, with what is still forecast.

Looking at the Avi Report tomorrow and the amounts of snow that could arrive to the East of the EK, I could easily see the Fornet and Pissailas sectors being locked down tomorrow.
Just when they thought opening the Col de L’Iseran would be easy this year!

chatting to ESF peeps, they reckon tomorrow is a similar (or actually worse) one to today. so tempted to spend some "smart" coins on the destocking operation some of the shops are running. Any suggestions whats a good bet for grabbing a real bargain (ideally an offpiste ski and/or good quality gloves)?

@negativeyardage, in my experience, true bargains are rare here, unless you go for ex-demo skis, which you could trawl the shops for something that suits you. Better value from Sport Pursuit.

Went out over Creux and Edelweiss at about 15:30. Deep heavy snow and only a few nutters like me around. Didn’t try Johann Clarey as was put off by sticky slush on Palafour earlier.

Had a 17:00 warrior in our family out at the top of Toviere to be the last one down, he loved it. Too snowy for me, I get bad dizziness when there's no definition to see.

There's at least 10cm on our balcony in VC tonight, and when I went out for a run at about 19:00 it was ankle deep all around, but very wet. Tomorrow could be a challenge all round!

Looks like everything will be closed, at least to start with - probably all day. Road down the valley is closed. Folk asked to stay indoors.

Looks like lifts are scheduled to open. Seems ambiguous as the message to not move between stations etc and then has the egg timer on many lifts / pistes after PIDA. Link to Val closed however

@Alex A, the head pisteur has said on the radio that they are highly unlikely to open, but there is a security meeting taking place around now. Apparently 135cm has fallen since it started yesterday.

Piste bashers working hard on the area around the magic carpet in Lac. No sign of them going any higher though. Snowplough has been round twice but you wouldn’t know!

@benboski, it is a case of be careful what you wish for. It does occasionally happen here, but rarely quite this much this late.

MF have just upped the Avi Risk to 5.

As far as I am aware that precludes a legal opening of ski lifts.

Time to dig the scrabble board out.
