@turms2, yes there has never been an issue using consecutive free days, but the question remains whether you still need to go to the ticket office each day

At Verbier this season you had to show your season pass email every day and they would only issue a one day pass

Well that is the Opposite from what they wrote to me, however i do not doubt that it could be so if i go there....its a little bit insecure
btw with kids in a ski school this is a NO GO
UPDATE Well its not the Opposite...its simple not clear...consecutive yes, but they do not wrote if they give 5x1day or 1x5days

I went for a weekend and had to go to the ticket desk twice to show my PdS pass - though the second visit was done Saturday afternoon for Sunday ski, so no time lost in the morning.

Well that’s the season done and a fine day out with @snoozeboy, a bit wet first thing then snow on the high lifts and drier after a coffee stop. High pistes in very good shape (Fornet bowl, top of Abricotine), lower a bit sticky. Looking forward to doing it all again next season

the answer from la rosiere : Hi, Thanks for your interest in La Rosière Ski resort. Upon presentation the Porte du Soleil QR code in the cash desk with its receipt, during the validity of date of your ski pass, bought at public price, you will benefit of your 5 days pass for the Espace San Bernardo. By the way, the Espace San Bernardo closed tonight at 5 PM. See you next time on the Espace San Bernardo slopes, Customer service
What exactly do they mean by "public price"?
Does that mean the flash sale is excluded? And what about the free kids pass?
Honestly, the option of the PDS Season Pass — just to use it except PDS and for two separate weeks in Verbier and La Rosière — seems to have too many unclear points. And to be honest, I'm not really willing to dig deeper into them...

@turms2, I think what they mean
Is that you can’t get a pass in exchange for a free PDS pass that staff etc may have. Many of my friends have skied San Bernado this season with the PDS flash sale pass. You’ll be fine with the bundle that you can purchase in September. It’s not that hard and a very good deal - probably best not to overthink or keep digging. I’ve only heard good things from PDS season ticket holders about this scheme.

Not just free, but for example when I was in the ski school as a 'auxiliaire' instructor there was a special price, around chf430 IIRC, and I can well imagine there could be many other roles or functions that don't give a free one but do allow a substantial discount.

Hmm… I suppose you’re right about that. By "public rate" they probably mean the prices that’s easy to find or purchase—like the ones listed on their website, and not prices for instuctors etc.
Honestly, the PDS pass is probably the best option since it combines many resorts we are able to visit, even for one, two or few days. Its also the free ski pass for the kids...thats a big deal...however I’ll wait until September to see how things are going with my wife’s rehab, and I’ll decide around that time.
By the way, La Rosière mentioned about a "5-day pass", and Verbier said: “The free days can be used consecutively or non-consecutively.”
I’ll double-check that later, but I think it should be possible to get a 5-day pass all at once.
Have a great summer! Maybe we’ll see each other next year.

After your first day if you go in at the end of the day (when there should be no q) I think they’ll give you one for the next day. Bit daft they won’t give you a multi day but at least it saves queueing

yes indeed , this is also an option. But i am not willing to do so for a week or more x 4 persons... Honestly, i do not understand why they do not want to give a multi day pass. But if its so, then ok...its take it or leave it , i suppose
i understand tha probably its not possible to have these days "preloaded" in the PDS Season Pass. But why they are not able to give a multi day pass (if its so) .... pfff....
UPDATE : do not know for La Rosiere, but in Verbier is what @doddsie mentioned....you have to go to Cash desk every day in order to take for every day a 1Day Skipass...
Dear Mr. XXXXXXXXXX,
Thank you for your message.
To receive the 5 free days, you will need to go to the ticket office each day to collect a day ski pass.

Seems like it according to Le Messager. Why is it mad?

Stash was closed last week, but the “Competition Piste” from the top of the plateau near Grand Combes arrival was in perfect nick, though not the sort of rock hard surface the racers seem to like.

We have a vested interest in this as we have just reserved a new-build apartment in Montriond - this makes for positive reading. Morzine in particular is continuing with the diversification theme which is very encouraging.

Les Gets are merging Rosta chairlift and Grains d’Or chairlifts to be replaced by a single TSD8 which I think might be a vanity project as a 6 seater is more efficient to fill in a family resort.
The following are happening in Chatel this year:
- Replacing Linga with a TSD6 (work underway)
- Adding a second Magic Carpet to Super Chatel sector
- Replacing the 2nd batch of 1/3 of Super Chatel gondola cabins as part of a 3 year program (they are the black cabins that appeared this season)
- Building a 4 season toboggan ride in the Vonnes sector
Popularity of PDS remains strong despite a couple of dodgy seasons in the last 5 years. Our little corner of the alps does punch abouve its elevation for the amount of snowfall we receive. I visited 3 Valleys on 14 Appril and it was obvious that we have much better snow cover at the same elevations. Perhaps its our more northern latitude, better snow making, or local climatic conditions.

I often find that your area gets better snow lower down than e.g. we do in Chamonix. Although, per 2 weeks ago, not always

@Ozboy, Agreed - an 8 seater seems over the top for Rosta. I've only ever seen 8 seaters in mega resorts in the busy intersections of the ski area.
Good to at least some some lift upgrades taking place, I visited LG/Morzine in Dec last year and noticed how lifts are lagging behind (old & slow) many other resorts of the same size.
It will be interesting to see if the Mt Chery bubble will be replaced with a Telemix style lift using the Grains D'or, so a mix of existing bubbles and chairs on the same line.

The proposal is to eventually replace all the drags between top of Chalet Neuf and Tour du Don with 2 chairs, each going up either side of the vallee. I believe there are issues around hat sector being a JV between Swiss PDS and Chatel as well as Swiss environmental restrictions.

@Matt1959, I often ride my road bike up to the Col des Portes du Culet in summer. There is a tough and very quiet 20K route from Muraz in CH to the top which can makes a very scenic route Chatel > Morgins > Monthey > Muraz > Culet > Morgins > Chatel. https://www.cyclingcols.com/col/PortesDeCulet

The topography of most of the PdS (rolling hills, nothing particularly steep) is also a clear advantage when it comes to maintaining and developing a year-round offering ...
you only have to go to any of the main 3 valleys (particularly the Belleville and Meribel ones) in the 3Vs in the summer to understand why cycling and hiking are nowhere near as prominent as in Chatel, LG and Morzine. They are steep, V-shaped valleys ... I wouldn't want to be on a downhill MTB staring down from the top of La Masse or Tougnette.

Very much applies for road biking as no need to climb 15kms to get home from the valley after a long ride.
