Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Abondance did shut for a short while about 15 years ago but then an American investor re-opened it again and ran it for a few years. he then gave up and the local commune decided to run it again. It is on the PDS pass but not physically linked.

Have flights booked to Geneva 13 April. Myself, wife plus 2 kids. Thinking we may stay in Morzine and drive to Prodains every morning. Is there free parking at the lift?

Wife doesn’t ski do more for her to do. Praying to the snow gods.

Thanks and jolly weekend to all

Parking at Prodains is paid, €10-15 a day depending on how long you spend on the mountain. Alternatively, the bus from Morzine to Prodains is free and runs regularly. If you want to drive, parking at Ardent is free and a similar length drive to the bottom of Prodains (depending on where in Morzine you are).

The forecasted sunshine did not appear this afternoon… low/no viz which was interesting to make the required route back from morgins via champoussin to Avoriaz… nice lunch at chez Gaby farm though !
Hoping for sunshine tomorrow morning for my last outing until the week before Easter.

@AvoAndi, La Ferme de Gaby or Chez Gaby 1670? The latter is one of my faves for lunch, great Roesti, the former is a regular vin chaud stop. Only place I know that makes it with white wine, quite different but really good.

Didn't get out today, stuff to do. My snow-god mate is arriving tomorrow night, has clearly already done his job with the snow we've had the last couple of days. Was about another 10cm first thing this morning on the cars. Stayed just below zero all day, so should be doing a good job up top.

Anyone know if Prodains takes you to the ski school meeting point in Avoriaz?

Is Folie restaurant closed during Snowbox? Can’t seem to make a reservation. Any other nice recommendations for lunch?

Thanks all

Did a few runs round Avoriaz today but wasn’t feeling it, was up all night the night before from a dodgy salad. But the snow has done a good job of improving conditions across the resort. Felt busy though.

@ianvip,

Most ski schools meet on the Plateau Area.

To get there from the top of Prodains bubble use the very slow ‘Plateau’ chair or short ski down to ‘Tour’ chair.

Then it’s a very short ski from the top of Tour chair to the Plateau area.

There are certainly _some_ ski school meeting points just at the top of the Prodains téléphérique, but it's a simple enough job to call them and ask, isn't it? ESF says that their "Training Courses" meet there, group lessons at the Plateau.

know the season is not over yet, but today i got an email from https://skipass.lachapelle74.com/ for the flash shale. The dates in the email are ok, but when you click on it you go the tha page from laste year (14.04.2024) however there its mentioned that you got 5 days free in Espace San Bernado
but in the PDS website for next saison, Espace San Bernado is not anymore.

Except that which are the prices for kids?
from last year website i can read : Free season ski pass for Child -12 years :

The Portes du Soleil season pass for a child under 12 years old (born since 01/01/2013) is free for the simultaneous purchase of an adult Portes du Soleil season pass (26-64 y.o).

but this i als for kids in the Flash Deal offer? or only for normal prices after the flash sale date?
ski holidays
 You know it makes sense.
You know it makes sense.
@turms2, The private sale runs from April 3 to April 9 and I believe offered to existing season ticket holders via unique discount code per ST holder as per the last couple of years. Pricing is yet to be announced but will be 50% off the regular price. Under 12's + Adult bundle, and discounted Young Rider passes are excluded form the initial offer end at the end of September. No news of San Bernado but dont think its been popular as only know of one person that has gone out there this season.

i do not think we mean the same think. If you see the website
https://de.portesdusoleil.com/die-pauschale-portes-du-soleil/meinen-winter-pass-buchen/
there is a flash sale at 10.April
I do not think its the private sale
However i manage to find an answer.
I suppose in this flash shale the kids are not included, at least for free..

1 free child skipass under 12 yo (born from 1/01/2013) for 1 adult winter skipass at 935€ or 1 annual pass at 1228€ purchased (direct ascendant of the child)

@turms2, We are talking about different offers and looks like existing STH are given priority followed by the flash sale. We are a family of four. I will purchase my own season ticket in the private sale but wait until September to purchase a bundle for my wife and 11yo and also a pass for my 13yo and will not be financially disadvantaged.

The way it’s been priced in the previous seasons is it’s the same if you buy a child now + adult on sale or buy the bundle later. Also be aware if you buy from France which I think is cheaper you have to start the season in France.

i am looking for one adult and two kids

However i am hestitating to do that because i think in the Half Term it will be REALLY CROWDED...(we have to go in this week also)

According to the last year prices, its better to buy a boundle for one adult with one kid free + one kid extra paid until 30.September, instead of 1 Adult at Presale at 10.April and two kids until 30.September

Good. Pretty much everywhere still in excellent shape. Some of last week's new snow is heavy and/or crusty in certain places off piste, other parts it's still great. On piste mostly is staying in good shape, only the directly sun-facing slopes being rock hard first thing in the morning then a little too soft for some late in the afternoon.

Home runs are also holding up well but are of course tending to heavy loose snow later in the day, as one would expect at this time of year in glorious sunny weather.

Super Morzine/Zore runs were looking pretty scrappy last weekend so gave them a miss from then on but as @Chaletbeauroc says, everything else is great. Oh except for the Ardent ski out which turned into a slush fest from about lunch time.

More wet sugar than slush, and still great fun to ski fast, if you have the bottle (and the leg strength). I always love skiing that one in spring conditions.

@Chaletbeauroc, Was great fun chasing each other down to Ardent from last week. Recommend starting from the top of the Chaux Fleurie and taking the Linderets plateau by-pass which cuts through to the goat village by-pass and then down to Ardent. Gives about 800m vertical in one fun run.

There is a turn off on the right before you get to the bottom, think it is, or used to be, marked Ardent Parking. Then you join the run down - red netting on the left and I remember seeing a bit of a rescue operation quite a few years ago now when someone had crashed through it and was in the water. I think he was placed in one of those silver foil outfits before being carefully brought out. The bypass though is not always open if lack of snow.

So do you stay high enough to go to the right of the top station of the Ardent bubble?

Yep you stay above the lift station it and pop out just before the goat village where you can either continue down or ski through the village. The turn-off is to the right just after the left hairpin.

My ski week finished on Thursday when I was airlifted to annecy hospital after catching an edge in the afternoon on the soft slushy snow and breaking my pelvis in two places.

Had been a great week with the bit fresh Saturday and the pistes in great shape up until about 1pm. Was skiing well and clearly started to get a bit cocky going a lot faster than I usually would in the soft stuff.

The other 24 in the chalet flew home yesterday and my wife is flying back out here tomorrow. My operation is first thing tomorrow morning and hoping to get a fit to fly home by Friday.

Rubbish end to what was another great holiday in les gets bit I will be back next year only reverting to slow and steady in the slushy stuff

Hopefully those free days apply to PdS season passes purchased in France too? The renewal price is 595 there.
Bought my passes from Morzine in past years, so hopefully yes.
I've used the Aletsch days both years, it's a nice ski area with lots of snow (high up). Pretty quiet too.
Would be amazing to get Adelboden, Engelberg, and Jungfrau too.
