Anyone offer any advice, a friend lost her phone on the slopes today in Avoriaz, not sure which run. She tried to ring it and it rang for a while but now off. Anyone know where it might end up if handed in?

Might be a long shot but there is a Facebook group - Morzine Crew - lots of lost property gets shared on there

I would also send a note to the Avoriaz tourist office as well as SERMA (lift company) … is she positive it was lost on a run and not whilst on a chair (it could have fallen anywhere)? They’re unlikely to respond tonight so I’d ask her to drop in tomorrow morning.
Also, tagging both accounts on Instagram might generate some response?

I realise I'm not the 'regular crew' but I might be up for something too, nothing planned for those days yet. Also not really interested in touring at this point. I'd drive round to PlJ and start from there.

Currently heading back from Morzine, kids first ski trip has been an absolute success. They’re definitely hooked and have asked to go back to Morzine next year. So I’m now looking for accommodation for Feb half term and looking for any recommendations for finding self catering accommodation. We just had a little Airbnb this time but any tips for alternative websites or companies would be great.

Well that was a bit of a shock - went up to Prodains yesterday instead of Ardent. We knew we would have to pay for parking, but 14 euros was a bit steep. Last time we did it, it was only 5 euros. Then I realised that was actually 10 years ago. Suffice to say, we're on our way to Ardent again this morning!

Pretty darned good. Not been out since Monday, but skied from Gabelou/Linga all the way to SuperMorzine for lunch at 'La Passage", and it was only the lower runs down to the cable car there that were starting to get sun-affected by lunchtime. On the way back we skiied several runs through the Happy Valley area, absolutely fantastic, all of us on race skis - still some soft stuff but nothing deep enough to be an issue.
Sunday we were on the Swiss side, mainly between Foilleuse and Champoussin, also great, no real degradation except in the one or two normal pinch points, e.g. just under the Champeys chair heading towards Crosets, but even there it was not too bad, no brown patches yet.

Quick note to all the lovely folk on this thread that offered their advice, tips and thoughts on buying a place in the PdS - we signed a reservation contract and paid a deposit on a 2-bed + coin montagne apartment in the new Le Kairn development in Montriond yesterday. Only 2 years to wait … thank you all.

@shep, @OuatteDePhoque and I met up today for a ski and lunch around PDS. Amazing weather, good spring-like snow and great company. Will be joined by @Chaletbeauroc tomorrow. Please get in touch if anyone else is here and wants to join us.

@Ozboy, Sadly I'm stuck in the UK. And when I was in France in January I was recovering from some broken ribs and a strained knee and couldn't ski. Fortunately I hadn't bought a season pass this year!
Enjoy yourselves!!

LTR it's Shep (I assume), odp, oz.
Just back from a great day with oz, odp and his partner. Still some great snow off-piste, well skied but soft where it had the sun and just a blast to ski. Always good when everyone can ski at the same sort of pace.

Great day covered a lot of ground. Had a blast. Thanks to Shep, ODF and family and our CB for meeting up. Looking forward to a larger group next winter.

Great weekend conditions in PdS. Always a pleasure to go out with good skiers who don't complain when the spring afternoons mean you need good technique. Thanks to @shep @ozboy & @chalerbeauroc for demonstrating that people can still ski really well on soft un-groomed runs. I have a sneaky feeling that 2 out of the 3 are former instructors though, and the other one will soon be joining our ranks of those who bat for both sides, and will take up snowboarding within the next 12 months

I wasn't one of the instructors - my ice and slush skills come from learning in Australia where everyday is a spring day. Not sure you'll see me on a snowboard anytime soon!

Whaddya mean? Those conditions were perfect, and you and the missus didn't do so badly yourself once you'd decided to follow me and Oz on all of those edge bits and cuts.

We've have about 5 cms on our balcony at 1260m overnight and Chatel village is white. Expected to continue on-and-off at village level through to Sunday with snow line down to 800m accoording to Bergfex Ski.

Also note that the Corbeau chair out of Morgins in Châtel direction has also closed, presumably (but I haven't checked) for the season. But TBH it's been the longest run for it since I've been here, opening before Christmas; in some previous seasons it's only opened in late January and closed by early March.
As for current snow - yeh, some nice powdery bits, sun broke through by midday, home run still excellent. Skied just from Morgins to and around Champoussin, as lifts towards les Crosets were closed due to high winds today.

Abondance also season closes this Sunday, so I suspect the lower resorts in the area are consolidating their operations around Xmas and the school holidays where the visitor numbers make them commercially viable (or less loss making !).

Planning to ski Avoriaz 8th April for a week which is a few days after Morzine is not 'fully' open. Does this mean a few main lifts are likely to keep going in the Morzine/Les Gets sector that week or is it full shutdown? Thanks for any insight.

I thought Abondance closed down years ago as a resort! Has it been bought and reopened now n the last few seasons?
