Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Government Bureaucracy delays Snoasis (again)

SnOasis Suffolk Snow Dome
Yesterday Ruth Kelly, the Communities and Local Government Secretary, told Onslow Suffolk Ltd, the developers behind SnOasis, that its plans will have to face a full inquiry, which could add up to two years of further delay to the project. Once built, Snoasis would be the world’s biggest indoor snowdome and was intended to be a major training centre for athletes in the run up to the 2012 London Olympics. The project has already been delayed two years which has have ruined the opportunity of it benefiting British atheletes for the 2010 Winter Olympics but this latest obstruction looks likely to take that same opportunity away from the Summer athletes too.

 Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

It was approved by the District Council but has probably been called in by the Government Office because of the clash with national and local planning policy in that area.

I notice that the Times article doesn't mention the 500 un planned houses or the susatinability issues surrounding this project. Its not just a ski slope. Indeed there is no guarantee that the skiing will always be there, but I expect that the houses will and the traffic etc.

For a scheme of this size in this location and one that was probably contrary to planning policy from the start, it was always inevitable that it would go to public inquiry. The Planning team advising the developer will have prepared them accordingly.

Public Inquiry is the way major projects that raise significant issues (not all of which are beneficial) are resolved in this country. The problem is not the inquiy procedure per se, but rather the length of time it takes these days and the amount they cost.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Yep so called "public Inquiry" is just another way of making money for the Lawyers, consultants and other leeches on society!

Next time one of them gets a hernia let them arrange and hold a public inquiry into how it should be treated, and where and by whom! should take all of about two months instead of two years!

the words government and delay go hand in hand.

In fact the only thing you can guarantee them to organise on time is another bloody tax hike or stealth charge...
