Your have some very famous (world) neighbours (multiple) if there in town...
As @Langerzug, has said returning on skis to Zug (Lech side) is very leisurely descent but for the direct descent is "Zugertobel" (177) the extreme route (178) Zuppert but in March this often closed ..
Weather system are constantly changing ..Two systems Cold from the North & Warm from the South ... It is not settling down into Winter yet ..
So consequently the previous snow predictions have been considerably downgraded (as of today) ..
Will be warm below 1500M (downtown) +8C on Wednesday thru Thursday !!
There is a problem with the modern Winter farming Techniques .... housing of the Cows in these new luxury heated barns.
The Cows do not act the same .. They stand and lay down like humans and not naturally on the Temperature , Air pressure & humidity .
Top (except Valluga) to Valley Sliding ....
Rendl in Top condition (earn your turns) but its not yet open (lifts) .. Coming very soon
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I mean reasonable compared to mooserwirt and Basecamp. All three are places I imagine I'll only really venture to when I have friends visit for their holiday week.
I think in 2022, Madloch was pretty thin most of the season with warning signs at the top, large sections decidedly heather hopping Scottish style. Hopefully a rare occurrence. Zug is a beautiful place though, perfect spot for a quiet winter holiday with fabulous skiing.

Anyone here have a genius idea of however to transfer a couch? We've arranged to get one from somebody but it's an 18 minute walk (but I have a crippled old back) and a 2 minute drive (but doesn't fit in my mates car). Any genius ways to transfer it? Or does anyone know someone with a van which we could borrow for 10 minutes? (Obviously for a fee)
We asked taxi drivers but they said they will only transport humans... Genuinely we could probably transport it with a skateboard if we have one lol

@badatbetting, €8.30 is reasonable for the Moose & KK. You can pay £7.50 for a pint in a pub in centre of London. There are plenty of cheaper spots in the village. For reasons I have never understood a spirit plus a mixer is much more expensive than beer in many places. Given how cheap vodka & gin is in Austria compared to UK it seems odd but is the norm. Stick with beer better for you. Local doctor here in Bavaria promotes drinking Weissbier as good for prostate health (he owns the local brewery!).

It's just dawned on me a shot of vodka is €5.60, and the 300ml of coke is is €5.30 so if I order them separately and mix them myself I save €5 lol.... How frowned upon will this be?!
So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

guys, it's not that difficult: Cocktails and other mix-drinks take more time to prepare; that's what you're paying for.

This is indeed is a veeeeery rare occurrence at that time of year. Most of the time there is a layer of at least over 150 cm of snow in the Zugertal. The conditions in the video are very weird, seeing the damp light. Wondering if this really was in early March. Looks like further on in April. But then, climate is changing....(the video maker took a silly circumstantial set of lifts by the way, just for Zugertobel....)

@Langerzug, thanks, looks like a lovely run despite the bare patches. And I’m guessing we could download on the gondola if conditions were bad and we don’t want to catch the bus back from Lech?

@surferrosa,
Yes. But it is quite a climb and walk from the valley-station back up to the Alphorn. You would want to leave your ski's in lockers then. I presume these are available, but not sure. The gondola is just there since two seasons. Or you could walk up to the church of Zug and wait for the bus there. There is a cute terrace there. (it's just one stop from there to the Alphorn, busstop at the doorstep)
You could also ski back to Lech and catch the skibus there.
These conditions are really very unusual! And anyway most likely just at that spot, which is very sunny. Some meters further you could ski again, as in the video. I don't think I've even seen it that bad in +20 years in Lech, not in early December, nor end March.
(To be precise Alphorn is at 10.33.)

True for cocktails, but a vodka coke takes less time to prepare than making a vodka and coke separately so it's mad to me it costs €5 more. I reckon a vodka coke is quicker than a pint of beer too...

@surferrosa, the buses run into the night and are then called James, (see above schedule) but are not free after 19.30, yet still very reasonable.

Another big shout for Zug! We were going to stay at the Alphorn until Covid got in the way. Had a meal there once and it was very good. One thing to be aware of it’s not in the central village of Zug but about 1000m further up the valley. Not really an issue and definitely ski out (across the road) down to the bubble. The only ski-in is really the Zugertal run.
Go for it. I’d be surprised if you are disappointed.
BTW - we liked Zug (and Lech) so much we’re going back in late January!

Are you sure you're not getting a double shot of vodka in your vodka-coke ? That would explain the price difference. If not then I'd order a pint of coke which will keep you in mixers for your vodka shots all night

Every winter sports enthusiast must be able to brake or swerve if the situation requires it.
Others must not be endangered or harmed by their own behavior.
Alcohol on the ski slopes is not regulated by law in Austria (nor Germany & Switzerland) . In contrast to road traffic, for example, there is no blood alcohol limit.
Note: In Italy they do have Blood Alcohol Limit on the Slopes & do test people !!!
However, the FIS rules apply in principle. They are not legal regulations, but are also used by Austrian courts to clarify the causes of accidents and claims for damages.
The FIS rules apply not only to skis, but also snowboarding or any other ways of sliding down the hill
Dangers of alcohol consumption
Alcohol dilates the blood vessels, the skin is supplied with more blood and thus releases more heat into the environment. This increases the risk of hypothermia. Coordination and motion skills are so limited that the complex movement sequences of skiing and snowboarding can no longer be controlled
. And this is – as with driving a car – at the expense of safety!
So if you have to warm up with high-proof liquor at the snow bar, it's better to take the Lift down to the valley.
Because on the slopes, drunk skiers pose a danger to themselves and others.
Apart from the health consequences, a skiing accident in an intoxicated state can also have criminal consequences !!!
Who is liable in the event of a skiing accident under the influence of alcohol?
A piste/offpiste accident under the influence of alcohol can have criminal consequences.
Anyone who causes an accident while drunk is usually fully responsible for the damage.
Alcohol intoxication can result in criminal proceedings for endangering public safety – even if no one was injured. In addition, this can result in contributory negligence in an accident.
In addition, a self-inflicted crash after alcohol consumption can be expensive: the social security institution can reduce or reclaim its benefits.
The option of recovering all costs incurred from the person who caused the accident, i.e. to file a claim for compensation.
Private liability insurance may refuse to cover all or part of the damage incurred.

Someone I know recently moved a couch, they rested the couch on the back lip of an estate car with the boot open and walked behind the car, holding it horizontal! Probably highly illegal to do so on public roads!

Such a hard decision for NYE here... Do you
1) go super hard at apres and accept the fact you'll be asleep before midnight...
2) go semi hard at apres, and hopefully bounce between a couple bars lasting until midnight
3) sack off apres, pay for a booking at one of the bars and stay there all evening..
@badatbetting, My experience is that skiing first thing New Years Day is really good because the pistes are empty as many people sleeping off the effects of the previous evening's partying!

Unless they'll choose to watch Austrian TV on THAT couch.
