Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Needless to say, this is an original French concept.

Do we have a name for this radical new technique, or - even better - an explanation?

I am slightly disturbed by the one piece that the gentleman is wearing.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Is it a new method of stopping, a bit like an aircraft carrier? They sling a wire across the piste near the bottom, and the skiers hope their poles catch them and stop them.

If you go to the index page at http://www.sport-image.com/ski_3d.htm the full list is given, apparently all illustrations of varying techniques at different levels.

They have been drawn up by a professor at the IUFM (Institut Universitaire de Formation des Maîtres) in Strasbourg - as a teaching aid for budding ski teachers! They have some fascinating names. The one you posted is called a TV, for some obscure reason.

Traverse? Transvestite? Television?

All three seem appropriate for different reasons.

skanky, it's a 'télé' therefore a television. Though there is an alternative television pose - entitled the wide-screen TV pose, no idea why. Technical experts please advise.

But look left in the URL - it also has 'poser' which is more like it Wink Wink

The titles below the thumbnails, which appear to be meant to be funny in some cases, don't tally with the actual image name. The guy skiing backwards is titled 'Lorry' (if my Franglais is up to the mark) but the full size is chassAR ??? If there are any really good ones, help us out PG

Edit - don't bother - they change every fortnight !!! What are the IUFM up to. Weird.

Is the bloke in Camion saying "beep beeep beep..."?

Télé could be to pretend you're on TV, e.g. the poles are the sides of the screen.
