CARV seems to like early edge initiation, S-shaped turns, high edge angles and high G-force, work on your weak points!

So, with the Nevado update, I've dropped from 156 to 149, Grim Ripper to Mountain Master, gutted!!!!!
A bit of work to do once we eventually get some decent snow......

Update took me from 149 to 150 and up a category to Grim Ripper, but that's app only, so it must be re-weighting my metrics. I get to snow in early Jan, and will be on the new units without footbeds.

The new update has dropped me from 137 to 130. Our 12 year old tried the new motion sensor battery packs last night on the dendix at Hillend (race training) and posted a score of 127.
I have to up my game
Back out in the Alps next week.

@JoyZipper, well done! I'm not even coming close to my revised score, don't know if it's using CARV 1 with the new software, or whether my skiing style just doesn't suit it..........

On a side note lory in orelle was always the best fun for a carv score for me.
So far this season I'm still getting up to speed with my technique so understandably scores are lower

I noticed the same, is it a ploy to get us all to buy CARV2?
I've actually taken out my sensors atm, not sure if i'll put them in again or not.

Took CARV 2 out for the first time yesterday, having long since given up on CARV 1 because of technical problems. It was super easy and worked faultlessly for the 2 hours I used it.
Didn't bother looking at the feedback or trying to improve, as I was just skiing with my daughter for our 1st day of the season. Managed a 136, compared to a revised best of 140 set back in 2019. Hopefully I'll get the chance to go out and try to improve my score over the next week. It will be interesting to strap them to my son when he arrives next week, especially to see how it rates his moguls skiing, as he competes in moguls.

Perhaps someone could setup a Snowheads Group Leaderboard within the app and post the link/QR code here, for others to join?
It's in the Community Section -> Your Groups -> Click the three dots on the right -> select Create Group

I'm afraid that we didn't venture over into the fourth valley.
I was using the new Carv 2 sensors (offer price of £150 with a 12 month suscription) as I have at least two weeks skiing in the Alps booked - I think that the crossover point for paying daily/buying the new sensors was about 8 or 9 days skiing per year. With the new sensors and a 12 month subscription my son can use it back home race training on the dryslope too.

My CARV2 lasted 5.5 hours across 3 days before stopping working. One of the sensors fails to charge and therefore is unusable. Customer support as always is very good and they've shipped me replacements to the UK already. However, no good to me for this 2 week holiday, so I failed to improve on a 141 score. Hopefully I am just unlucky and got a bad sensor, but having given up on CARV 1 because of all the technical faults, I was really hoping CARV2 would be a better solution. I will try again in Feburary on my return to the mountains.

I would imagine that the sensors work but you may not have access to the feedback due to no telephone signal. Never skied Hemel but there was never any signal on my phone in the Snow Factor in Glasgow.

I thought the phone signal is not needed, any syncing can be done on WiFi later & comms btwn phone & sensors is done by Bluetooth. The app on the phone should still give real time feedback by Bluetooth...

@KenX, I’m at 120. Hoping to improve this season but need some decent speed and clear runs in the 3V. Can’t wait to get back out there on 10th jan for 3 weeks.

Works fine in the fridges just no GPS for distance and speed. Helps pass the time on the poma with some pretty graphs to look at

Just joined the group on Carv. My best from 5 days skiing over Xmas week was 111! So much improvement to be had! I really enjoyed having Carv 2 for the first time however it did seem to consume phone battery fast!

I had a set of Carv 2 for my birthday. Best score so far was 130 on beautifully groomed fresh snow during a Warren Smith ski course on the glacier in Zermatt back in November. I reckon I surpassed that during a session that week where the app was turned off. I don’t have any earphones at the moments (in helmet earphones on order), so it’s harder to pick up the audio feedback. It does drain my phone, and then putting it inside my jacket a warmer pocket then creates more faff.
There’s so much data it can fry your brain! Mr P now has a set, and he’s scored higher than me..grrrr! (Competitive…moi? ) We are now in the 3V, and it’s proving difficult to get close to my previous score which is very frustrating (125 best so far this week). Not easy on busy slopes, but I feel I’m lapsing back into old habits having made progress back in November.

Recently got C2 and have Founders lifetime subscription from C1s. Off next week for a while, so will be interesting what they make of telemarking.

@colinstone, I haven't tried mine telemarking yet due to the faff-factor of swapping inserts, be interesting to see the results with Carv2!
What were you getting from Carv1 on tele?

Just received my Carv2 for review, obviously a much tidier package and in my mind, an improved attachment system.
Will it yield different results from my old Carv1 running Nevado?
I'll have to wait for some Hero snow to see if it helps get my Grim Ripper status back after the Nevado
kick in the teeth dropped me to 149......
Something I've really noticed is the need for precision with the new algorithm, where before I could break 150 quite easily on good snow just with high lean angles/toppling/g-force/edge angles, now it's all about turn shape, edge similarity, early edging, mid-turn balance etc which I guess is a good thing overall as it should tidy up my skiing!!!

How did you know I was looking at those?!
Ordered myself a pair of Addikt Pro 66mm on Friday after borrowing some at sz.
Low effort carving, felt light, fun, good for dodgy knees!

Hi @stephap,
>>How did you know I was looking at those?!
I remember you mentioned you'd tried them before when we were at the EoSB in April.
I just tried the 66mm Pro for a few runs, and I was not sure about them, I felt they may have been above my paygrade.
So I set out sceptical with the 76mm when I started the week with them, but I loved them more and more at every turn.

You have a good memory!!
I thought about the 76 as well, more rocker in the tip and the extra width makes them a bit more forgiving and versatile.
Anyway as you say definitely good skis, I’ve only heard positive reports.

Hi @stephap, I did not realise the 76mm had a rocker on it till I read a review a week later.
I would have probably avoided it if I had know it had a rocker, I'd always go for a full camber.
Anyway I'm going to look out for a pair again when I rent.
