Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Accomodation in La Thule

Can anyone recommend some accomodation in La Thuile? Ideally, I would prefer a catered chalet/HB on the not too expensive side, but am OK slumming it with self catering. A real must for me is close location to the lifts and slopes. Am going Feb 10th next year. Thanks

wazza, For proximity to lifts you can't beat the Planibel complex. I stayed in the s/c part a few years ago and it was fine (late booking so very cheap, but it's not usually!) There is also a half board hotel as part of the complex - lots of t/o go there so look on, for example, Neilson's website. There don't seem to be too many chalets, but take a look at www.chaletalpina.it - seems to be English-owned so you'll be able to go direct for location info etc. We really liked La Thuile and you can ski over into La Rosiere, although we couldn't as the link was closed due to wind or too much snow. There are some great very Italian eating places too - we have fond memories of La Grotta (or would have if the wine had been less quaffable.....)

Good Luck snowHead

wazza, can we tempt you to the sunny side of the domain, La Rosiere? If you want an indication of how the slopes look in Feb go to our website www.tracksvacations.com and click through to the gallery. There are some other snowheads out that week so you'll be in good company.

Planibel self catering is ok, go for the newer monte bianco ones. The cooking facilities are very basic. If you go to www.lathuile.it or www.lathuile.net there is a hospitality link with a link to all the hotels etc. Booking the planibel self catering independently is easy. Chalet Alpina is excellent, but b&b, however there a number of good restaurants in La Thuile, and they can do a half board deal. Chalet Eden is also excellent, the food is very italian and the rooms are all different, some have real fires if i remember correctly.
