Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

It is also underwritten by a Gibraltar-based company, which I think means you can't complain to the Ombudsman and won't be covered by the FSCS if anything goes seriously wrong.

That's interesting - well spotted. The thing gets harder and harder.....or perhaps we're just more aware.

If riding off piste it’s worth getting AAC membership for the rescue, medical, repatriation and liability cover. (Need a GHIC to)

Depending on circumstances you could have that as well as your travel insurance or instead of.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@albob, Sounds ridiculous. And how could a week's policy include 21 days winter sports, anyway?

Pam - I name you the Bright Star in the Class Smile - I had not Twigged on that !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DOOHH

Although it is called a 'Single' trip insurance -- maybe the maximum trip length is 21 days...

====

Just checked -- single trip is 104 days !!!

Thought I would check about Gib based insurers, and found this

You'll need to Register first of course.

I renewed with the British Mountaineering Council. Their cover did a great job for us in the past. A bit pricy but very good.

Just brought this forward from the Off-Piste as it may get more views here

MPI's Press page still says: "Due to a combination of circumstances MPI are not currently able to provide our own travel insurances - we are working with a new insurer and expect to be back up and running shortly."

It is around 5 months since FCA imposed restrictions on them. For a winter sports specialist, where most single trip and many annual insurances are probably taken out or renew in the autumn, it seems likely that they have killed their own business. Even if they now find a new insurer most customers will have left, and be wary of returning.

If you click on MPI's 'get a quote' the Ski insurance bit takes you to

https://www.voyagertravelinsurance.co.uk/campaigns/voyager-plus-travel-insurance-broker/?UserID=7349&UserCode=193497

It used to take you to 'Clear Skies'

Voyager seem to be a 'comparison/aggregator' site

----edit--

Oh dear, I took out a policy with 'able2travel' at the weekend - no policy documents as yet, but my receipt is from Voyager Insurance Services !!! ---
shall be checking to small print when the documents arrive..........!!!

Could you please explain what is wrong with the Voyager packages? I am in the process of finding alternative insurance, having only just found out that MPI aren't continuing. I have a quote from Voyager, but am also sounding out Snowcard.

This will sound daft, but I thought they were too CHEAP!! : Most comparison sites wanted (for me) £400 + on an annual policy ; Voyager was £160 !

I also thought they might be involved with MPI : It seems that I was wrong on that

Excuse the bump.. But a word of warning about StaySure.

I have been getting an online quote from StaySure

Looking at a Single week policy - it clearly states, under 'more details' that 21 days winter sports are included..
However, when you click on 'buy', a page comes up with 'add extras' and one of them is Winter Sports!!!
A £90.00 single trip policy needs a £202 supplement paying ...............!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Annual policy does, however, cover winter sports without any extra supplement

Been using Insure&Go for years but just checked and winter sports is now an add on for *both* single and annual cover.

And adding to single pushes it from £90 to over £300! Annual goes up to £185 for Gold Confused

This is for Worldwide inc North America.
Though includes off-piste so long as resort is okay with it.

Got quote from LV worldwide annual £130 with in-boundary off piste is not so bad. Again, their single trip is more.
