Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Lech ski hire tips

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Is there any advantage in booking ski hire in Lech in advance? I've never been there before, so I'm wondering if there's a real saving from going through Alpinresorts or one of the other intermediaries. Or if I book direct with the shop I get a discount? I'm going mid Jan, so I imagine there's no risk of them running low on stock. I'm staying about 10 min walk towards Warth from where the main road crosses the river.

We found Intersport best value in Lech.

Agree with @Stevebeckhead. I’m headed to Lech for the first time this year and have been pricing things up in recent weeks. After looking at Strolz, Sportalp, and Intersport, the latter seems to offer the best value as it automatically applies an early bird discount. I also noticed The Ski Podcast have an offer, but it doesn’t seem to do anything with the price. For 6 days hire of boots and premium skis for Mrs ITC and I… €530. Ouch.

@koru, @Stevebeckhead, @inthecold,
Yes, Intersport has the most reasonable prices.
Sportalp has the advantage of being 'ski-in/out', right next to the central Schlegelkopf-piste, which is very practical in case you want to change during your stay.
And they bring the gear to your hotel (at least they did some years ago), and they do offer pre-booking discount

 Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

@koru, for you closest is Intersport-Schlosskopf

Thanks, some good tips. If they bring the skis to the hotel that would be a bonus, though we are in apartments (https://almrausch-lech.com/en/), so perhaps they don't qualify. Worth asking!

@koru, Sportalp is my recommendation. Best location and they have bookable storage too.

See what you mean, Sportalp are significantly more expensive. About 80 euros per person. For me, the Schlosskopf location is closest, so they seem the way to go.

I don't need storage, as it is going to be much quicker skiing in and out of the lodgings than walking to the lifts.

@koru, Enjoy. I'm there late Jan and it should be epic!
