Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Is there a car park there? Will certainly improve access to the skiing by those coming up from the valley.

My car parking spaces are available for moderate fees........... Toofy Grin

I can actually see my little castle on Romains Topo map.

Incidentally, I have come across a new French 'Topo map' series which is supposed to be fully compatible with Garmin GPS map units. Not all of France has been mapped, but the 'Alpes Region' has just been released. I have just ordered it in France from La Boutique du GPS - might be of interest to you Romain. I will assess & test it when I receive it and post a thread if it's any good.

BernardC, Yes I do.

Search under La Plagne and you will find them. You may have to download some software to view (bad web design in my opinion!) Development is called Crete Cote and there are apts ranging from 1 to 5 bed with prices from 189,000 to 636,000 euros

BernardC, will be interested in the GPS stuff. Spotted this at the Ski Show. Not looked in detail but it seems to allow GPS recorded data (either a standalone GPS unit or a smartphone/PDA plus bluetooth GPS mouse) to be overlaid onto pistemap-like topo models. Also records distance skied, top speed, etc. No idea if it's accurate enough for even casual interest.

Thanks for the offer a parking space (for a moderate fee). Fortunately I only have to walk up a short flight of stairs to reach the piste (at the nicer end of the Paradiski as well Wink), but I'll remember your place if I ever get stuck in LP and need to park the car Smile

Shocked

...I carry a Garmin GPS off-piste - mainly for safety, in being able to report position fairly accurately should the need arise, as it did once last season for a helo - medevac. It has mapping facility which I never used, as France was notoriously lacking in GPS friendly Topo maps. The gps I have has a lot of letters & numbers! It is a 'Garmin GPSMap60CSx' if anyone else has one, or Garmin 'Map' units, that's interested, I will check out how functional the Topo maps are and post back.

I have taken this way off topic! Embarassed I will post it seperately in case anyone is interested in news of the French Topo maps.
