Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi I'm looking for a good place to go next Jan 2007.
We are looking for guaranteed snow
good for beginners and intermediates skiiers and boarders
good shopping for a couple of non skiiers
hotel that is (or virtually is) ski in ski out but not over 450 quid
Any ideas anyone?
Cheers
Becky

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

beckster_2, are you looking tour operator or DIY?
If the former you might get a discount depending on numbers
also are you limited by where you can fly from ?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

beckster_2, Are you set on a hotel or could you be interested in a chalet? If so our ski-in ski-out chalet in Alpe D'Huez may suit your group. The ski area is great for beginners and there is also plenty to keep non-skiers entertained! We give a special discount for snowheads and include flights in our prices, we also currently have some special offers running for groups and reductions on lift passes and equipment hire during January. Have a look at our website www.skialacarte.co.uk and PM me if you are interested or would like a quote .

beckster_2, welcome to snowheads, unfortunately we can't guarantee snow but La Rosiere has one of the best snow records in the Alps, have a look at our ad in snowShops or go to our website ww.tracksvacations.com for more details. If you're not interested in a chalet holiday we can recommend a couple of hotels in the village that are very good value.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

beckster_2, Most places with guaranteed snow and ski in-ski out are high, a bit bleak, and distinctly short of shopping opportunities, or anything else for non skiers, unless they want to buy ski gear. There are places in Courchevel 1850 which pretty well meet your brief, but it's expensive. You might have to decide whether the needs of the skiers or the non skiers take priority! Actually, nowhere has "guaranteed snow". Some of the highest places, like Tignes and Val D'Isere, were very short of snow for most of January 2006. Where have you been up to now?

Schladming would fit most of your bill.
An hour by train from Salzburg for the non skiers.
Austria has had a much better record for early season snow than France in recent years
A good range of intermediate skiing over 4 interlinked mountains.
Hotels are plentiful near to the slopes, but I don't think that there are any ski in/out.
