Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

anyone with some recommendations for putting the kids in ski school for half days ? I don't want esf, doesn't need to be a brit, but would want English speaking with 6 kids to a class max ideally..... 7 & 10 year olds..... can get down most stuff, but need to work on technique and I would quite like to do some skiing my self this year rather than teaching them for 8 hours a day.....

cheers

@ajc2260626, From personal experience I would highly recommend Ultimate Snowsports for kid's lessons. Small groups. Brit owned and staffed. https://ultimatesnowsports.com/

Might be worth posting this on the new Tignes thread in the snow reports section.

There are some more recommendations for tuition on page 1.

What's wrong with ESF ? They also can provide 6 kids max courses and english speakers, specially in big resort like Tignes. Evo2 is good also.

Maybe nothing. I think there are those - and I include myself - who have had experiences in the past eg. Very big classes and a "Tough Love" approach, which doesn't suit every child. If things have changed with the availability of small class sizes and it isn't such a lottery, then that is great.

Every ski school have coaches that fit with you and other that doesn't fit with you, it's a real lottery. ESF is providing 6 kids max courses since a long period of time, not at the same price than usual 10 kids courses and maybe not in every resort but at least in all big ones: https://www.esftignes.org/tignes-val-claret/children/top-6-lessons/

I think the group size is pretty important. I've paid extra for grandchildren to be in very small groups for lessons - it's been well worth it. IME kids cope quite well with the "tough love" approach provided the parents stay well out of the way! Most kids are better off with "tough love" experienced instructors than with clueless parents. The only people I've seen barking instructions at kids have been parents out of their depth. One stupid woman actually yelled to an obviously tired and frustrated child "I told you NOT to fall down". I wanted to stab her with my ski sticks, but contented myself with picking the kid up and plonking her back on her skis - her mother was downhill, and looked completely incapable of clambering back up the slope to help. End of the afternoon - they'd have done better to finish an hour earlier and sit with a hot chocolate. I saw one vignette from a ski lift. Mother down slope, red and a bit lumpy, WELL beyond her capabilities. Cross 7 year old up the slope, really but just about managing. Fell, dropped pole, got herself on feet and carried on without pole completely ignoring mother's hysterical shouting to pick up the pole. I enjoyed that one and thought the child had found a perfect way to get her own back. Laughing
