Hey Guys,
I have just found this forum today after I got back to the UK after 2months (skiing and tourism) in Canada, and i'm itching to get back. I am currently planning to head back and this time want to stay on-mountain for 2-3months, either Nov-Jan or Jan-March.
I'm keen on most big resorts in BC or Alberta (but probably not Whistler due to price and popularity), but also Blue Mountain in Ontario is looking tempting too.
The reason for this post is I am looking to buddy up for accommodation, as 3 months in a shared dorm hostel doesn't sound too appealing at the age of 35, so i'm looking to share accommodation costs for a private room or small chalet.
(can totally be mountain buds too, but not essential)
Rough ballpark costs for this would be about £5k (flights, season pass & 3months in 2person private hostel room - using Big White as my example)
I'm aware that this comes across a little vague at the moment, but that's mainly due to flexibility rather than lack of commitment on my part + I thought I'd get a post up early.
About me:
35/M/UK, work in tech.
Intermediate skiing ability, but looking to push myself - I enjoy piste, side hits, trees and have just started playing about in the park. Still an amateur with powder and off-piste sessions.
Sporty-nerd type (DnD Après-ski?)
lgbt friendly, 420 friendly, like a few beers but not a heavy partier, good sense of humour.
Oh and I love cooking, so food prices can be kept down

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@holidayloverxx Thank you! A pleasure to be here, it seems like an awesome community.
DnD = Dungeons and Dragons (hence the nerd comment nerd)
5 of us did a long weekend away in Feb and as soon as the lift's closed it was time to battle Orcs instead of moguls!

Sounds like an amazing winter. I wouldn’t bother with Blue Mountain. It’s a hill rather than a mountain, and you’d be bored after a day there!

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Hey there! So, I'm planning to move to Revelstoke for the next season. I'm 28 y/o snowboarder currently living in Vancouver, but due to transferring universities, I have a gap year. I'm looking to head up to Revy from late December until September, but the housing market is insane during peak season, so I want to make sure that my winter plans are sorted beforehand.
Right now, I'm on the hunt for a room or possibly teaming up with other riders and skiers to share a place. I'm even open to renting from November, even though my move won't be until December. Kinda Impossible to find a rent from January.
Btw there are other options in BC like Fernie, Nelson, and Golden … but I have my heart set on Revelstoke.

@Rozza88, welcome - good luck with it all. Given what you like/ability and all that, I'd hugely recommend looking at Hokkaido. I did something I called season in a month (ski every day first lift to last bell was the idea), as I was short on time to do a full spin, and Japan worked out so much cheaper, with more snow... I've not done Revy to compare, but skied a lot of Alberta/BC and well, I prefer Japan. And the prices there.
