Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Brienz (Schweiz) evacuated

Last Friday and not known if they can ever return Shocked

Two million cubic meters of rocks that could shift at any moment now expected to occur between May 16th and June 2nd of 2023

Brienz has been threatened by this rock avalanche for more than three years, but the rock mass has recently become increasingly mobile.

The authorities expect a large part to break down in the next one to three weeks.

That can be the full two million cubic meters of rocks and stones, but it can also go in phases.

The way the rocks come down is not exactly predictable. The most likely scenario is numerous rock falls of a few thousand to several hundred thousand cubic meters, while a prolonged debris flow is not to be expected.

A large, fast landslide of more than 500,000 cubic meters cannot be completely ruled out either.

Yes, I initially posted about this on the Jungfrau region thread before realising it was a different Brienz: https://snowheads.com/ski-forum/viewtopic.php?t=83079&start=4680#5131483
