Looking for a set of Autosocks, according to the web, I need AS697 to fit my 235/50/19 tyres.
Anyone have anything they no longer need and want to recoup some costs? Only £75 online, but it all helps.
Failing that, any decent easy fit chains for the same tyre?
Not hitting mountain roads in France until 1st April, for reference.
Cheers all.

I looked at Amazon and eBay but in the end Halfords weren’t much different in price. Bought online and picked up that afternoon for about £45.
A word of caution though. I tried them in anger for the first time on Friday & really struggled to get them on.
Try in the dry first before you need to do it for real.

I did, but when I came to put them on, the wheel arches were full of snow so I didn't have the space to work properly & the video didn't explain just how much pulling was required to get them around the wheel. Got sorted eventually though.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

I'd keep your eye on ebay. Genuine Autosock 697s come up pretty regularly. There's a few pairs on there with a starting price of £40 and one pair with a buy it now of £55.
Not sure other brands are actually approved as alternatives to chains?

Well that can be a big problem with chains, too - you need a small kids spade or similar, to dig out that snow in the wheel arches, and shove aside the snow behind the wheel too.
I am planning to dig out my chains tomorrow, to see how far off they are from fitting the tyres on my new car. I'd count myself lucky to need chains on 1 April but in this crazy year, you never know.

Managed to get some at £40 plus p&p, so pretty happy with that, cheers.
