Does anyone know how much it is to upgrade a Val Thorens lift pass to a 3 Valleys, just for one day? All i can find is the cost of buying a new 3V for one day but I have been told it is possible to upgrade.

@LeanneLlew, we did it at either the SFaB or EOSB once within the last 5 years and I seem to recall it was about €35 so no doubt it's increased since then.

Sounds about right from my recollection of doing the same a couple of times. That was pre-c19 so no doubt its gone up a bit.

Can't see a VT one day upgrade price but from Courchevel it's €43. I'd expect it to be the same but can't prove it.
This is the first year that I can remember where only one trip over the top means you should have bought a 3V pass in the first place - 6 days Courch is €325 vs €360 3V. For VT though, the 6 day pass is cheaper at €306 so still two trips over the top. (3V pass is the same €360 wherever you buy it.)

Blimey, 43 euros seems expensive for an upgrade when you’ve already spent 50+ euros for the day already.

Thanks everyone. We have VT passes included in our deal and the holiday company have said it is £60pp to upgrade to 3V for the week. We are skiing with our two children for the first time (5 & 10), they are in ski school 9-12 each morning so not sure if we will make enough use of the upgrade. Although it is much better value to upgrade for the week for £60.

Yes, it's never been a reasonable cost on a simple maths basis. It's a deliberate marketing ploy IMO to get anyone other than a beginner to buy the 3V pass in the first place.

Yes, it must be. I saw earlier today that a Paradiski 1 day upgrade is 22 euros, and Tignes / VdI seems to only be a tenner for the same.

That sounds like an extra income stream for the TO. Simple exchange rate says that upgrade should be €54 or £48. I'll bet they've got a bulk discount on their VT passes for guests so they can market their holidays as "ski pass included" but they won't get any discount on the 3V pass because there's more than one lift company involved. So you get to make up the difference!

That's more like it. The other part of the problem for the 3Vs is the politics of multiple lift companies. They're always arguing about the split of profits from 3V sales whereas I think both VDI/Tignes and Paradiski come under the Compagnie des Alpes umbrella to sort these things out. Les Menuires is also C des A but the rest of the 3Vs isn't.

According to the CdA website Meribel Alpina is also owned by them, though Meribel Alpina only operate the lifts in Meribel Centre, the lifts in Mottaret are run by S3V, same as Courchevel.
