Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Food shopping in Val Thorens

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Heading to Val Thorens in March and staying in a self-catered chalet for the first time. Is there anywhere we can do an online shop and get groceries delivered or is this not a thing in the mountains?

Are the supermarkets in the resort ridiculously expenesive?

Thanks

There’s at least a couple of Sherpa supermarkets in VT, and I believe some branches offer delivery or click and collect; not able to see if these branches do but maybe contact them https://www.sherpa.net/en
Failing this, if you’re driving, it would be worth stopping en route in a valley town, and doing a shop. Mountain resort shops of any type, are always pricier than normal. If you’re s/c, pack things like salt, pepper, little packs of herbs and spices, stock cubes etc.,

@LeanneLlew, range not as extensive obviously and prices more expensive but not ridiculously so.

Not aware of any delivery options but that's maybe because we do most of our shopping in the valley before driving in.

Buying in a resort supermarket still saves £££££££££ over eating in a hotel - you're on holiday, so don't stress about some higher prices. The wine is usually a good buy, as are bottles of beer! But taking some well thought-out basics with you is well worth while. If you are a keen cook, take a sharp knife - but don't forget to bring it home.....

A handful of dishwasher tablets is always a good idea.

If you've booked the accommodation through a French outfit, do check what's provided. Linen and towels are not automatic.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

From my view, same as @Layne, in that it's not a crazy difference in price overall and considering a weeks stay. Also never lacked for food at any of the French ski station supply shops really. Maybe some can't find something they prefer, but then taking an optional choice is all part of travel in my view.

They definitely deliver there though in my experience, delivered to Val Thoren for your convenience Laughing you've just got to go and pick it off the shelves. You can walk out from most of the accommodation and pick it up easily, no need to drive anywhere.
