Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

There is a huge amount of snow forecast in Kitzbuhel next week, suspect it will be similar for other resorts nearby

Just back from a week in Nassfeld, 85 miles South of Salzburg where the snow has been sublime - over ½ metre fell Mon/Tue on an already excellent base.

The cold temperatures kept the snow in ace condition for the rest of the week. Valley-mist mid week kept the crowds away but above the fog it was perfect blue-bird powder heaven

The key is having relatively constant cold temperatures instead of big +/-10 degree fluctuations

@Peter S, yes if that much falls on Thurs Fri and Sat there will likely be travel disruption on Sat what with Innsbruck and Salzburg airports being rammed on a Sat anyway

@Peter S, nice problem to have given the snow so far, travel chaos incoming though for those flying into/ out of Innsbruck and Salzburg next weekend as @VolklAttivaS5, says.

Heading to Mayrhofen on Thursday via Munich. 60cm of snow forecast between Thursday and Saturday. Looks interesting. Our group definitely prefer fast piste skiing so they might not be happy.

May be just warm enough for it not to be a problem at airport altitude.

Also heading for Mayrhoffen, arriving Innsbruck Friday evening so avoiding the crowds. With 3 off-piste skiers, plus a guide from Monday, so VERY happy with the forecast.

@snowball, perhaps work on fact you will coming in from Munich if forecast correct, poor conditions and the pilots quite rightly won’t risk the descent into Innsbruck, happened to us on last visit

@Mother hucker, Really enjoyed it, good lift system and plenty to keep you interested for a week.

I guess it would be considered as a good intermediate level resort, but we found plenty of barely tracked off-piste terrain so great for more advanced skiers too.

This article sums it up pretty well

Oh - there's relatively cheap heli-skiing available too, though we didn't sample it

Flying into Salzburg on Saturday afternoon! The irony of watching webcams anxiously for weeks, only to start worrying there is too much snow. rolling eyes

Fingers crossed it’s an amazing week of skiing though!

There's only 20-30cm forecast for Innsbruck itself; the airport should be able to deal with that no problem Smile Low level fog tends to be a bigger issue than falling snow IME
