Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hi All

Just a quick one, can anyone recommend a good ski hire shop in Morzine?

Many thanks

Had a really positive experience with Action Sports back in Jan 2020. Really nice guy that owns the place.

the only thing i have been about Gravier is that they do not offer insurance with their Ski hire, and as i don't have thins with my travel insurance, i see this as a must. Any experiences with Mathias Sport, Morzine? thanks

@billy lale, maybe because they don't rip you off with damage claims, but I can understand the concern.

its not even the damage claims im worried about, its the theft. its all a bit worrying when so many bits of equipment are left out over lunch. this is the only reason im going with someone else, otherwise it would have been with Gravier

@billy lale, it does happen - Happy Hours seems to be a hot spot… I haven’t used a ski lock for years but might look into it again

@Nadenoodlee, there didn’t seem to be a single Wednesday last season when somebody didn’t have a board or pair of skis nicked from outside Happy Hours!

@andy from embsay, its such easy targets - massive piles of skis next to a huge car park…

I'm not sure how much actually gets stolen from outside Happy Hours vs. how many people have one Scary Cocktail too many and just grab skis in the rush for the bus that their drunken brains think are theirs.

@Mjit, I think theres a fair bit of both. I give it a swerve - that bus ride back doesn't look much fun. Just need a pop up bar at the bottom of Nyon for a choco-rum and i’d be over the moon

used this shop on 2 previous visits to Morzine. family run company - opposite a drag lift that allows you to ski down to Pleney. Ski back at end of day and store your equipment in the shop. They were excellent on both occasions.

Used them last year via Alpinresorts website. Friendly and efficient. Daughter needed to change boots, dealt with kindly and sans drama. Would use again if they came up cheapest.

Anyone got any reason not to use SKI REPUBLIC MORZ'NA SPORT? They're showing up as the cheapest on my dates this year.

Does anybody have any experience of FB freeride or Pleney Sports? They are both right next to the lift and offer storage so seem ideal

@kinger123, Have known FB Freeride since 1988 ... (not under that name!) ... very nice family ... good kit.

Doorstep skis - also have physical shop next to bus station/supermarket/town hall.
Scottish guy, got really good service and a fantastic, well serviced set of good quality skis last year from them.

@MHskier, not sure if it’s the same this year, but they were only doing delivery on orders of over €250 last season.

My partner uses a company that drops her skis off on the day we arrive. Not sure of the name but it’s pretty convenient.

Another consideration now is that some of our group may want the full Portes du Soleil lift pass so they can roam up to Avoriaz so may need a hire shop more central. I was initially thinking the closer to the Pleney lift the better. We are only there for a long weekend so nit sure the PDS pass is necessarily worth it - most of haven't been to Morzine before

@Grantley1988, might it have been All Mountain Rental? We used them once for a short break in Morzine, they could fit us after we arrived latish in the evening so we could get straight on the slopes next day.

Excellent service, my wife claims their skis were the best she has used (we didn't think to note the model).

Yup I just chose the big shop next to the lift to Morzine - was it an InterSport brand? - so I could store the skis by the lift overnight and walk from/ to the hotel in comfy boots.

Alan’s and Alpine Sports new shop (assuming it’s open) are on the roundabout near Super Morzine, where you can hop on an A bus to Prodains or the Super M gondola and head up that way. You can also grab a U or P bus to Pleney (or the little train) from there.

FB Freeride or Berger Ski

Both at the bottom of the Plenney, if that is where you want to start and finish. Leave the skis and boots overnight. Great service every time, but it's the location that is perfect.

Doorstep ski, they drop them off at your hotel upon your arrival ( you phone when 30 mins from resort in the transfer ). At the end of the holiday you just leave everything in the hotel boot room and the y collect it . Always happy with the kit and friendly service .

Not available in Avoriaz for obvious reasons .

I’ve used the 3 times in Morzine .
