Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

La Plagne 2022 / 2023

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Good news to start the new season - Public Lift pass prices for the Season pass have been reduced to €629 (this price was around €1000 last season.) We will have to wait to see what, if any, early purchase discount is given via Edenski. https://www.skipass-laplagne.com/fr/tarifs

According to a post on Perso la Plagne the reason for the price reduction is that the 'locals' discount pass has been made illegal.
'Le forfait saison comme indiqué précédemment baisse fortement car le forfait gens du pays n'est plus autorisé.
A noter que 96% des ventes concernent le forfait 6 jours.'

@boredsurfin, Looks like reallly good news. Breakeven after around 13 days of skiing.
Even without the Edenski discount looks like a bargain to me.
Maybe worth buying it now before they change their minds.

As you say @boredsurfin, season pass now a real bargain - even more so if you are an oldie: €584 for the whole of Paradiski Smile
Now its just to cool down a bit, rain a lot, and the power stay on.

@Jonpim, too true. I'll be paying not much more for a season pass than my son will be paying for a week. The Les Arcs prices are not up yet and I'm just hoping that they will introduce an early purchase discount as they have the last couple of years.

There was a public presentation by the Maire and others regarding some development* at Les Arcs, the PowerPoint presentation can be viewed here:

https://fr.calameo.com/read/0056896169a0065c64ba0?page=1&fbclid=IwAR0kXCATuMEEDgxUaBlCdIHkQrhXLgrSCapKEyCDqTlqMBvbIVWP3-5kbOM

Slide 35 confirms the reduction in the cost of the season pass, and notes that online sales will have no date restrictions. Is it correct to read in to that that there will be no early-bird discounts for season passes? As much as an early-bird discount would be great, I wonder if it’s a bit too much to hope for given the significant reduction in the headline rate?

@rob@rar, Thanks for that info @rob@rar. Suppose one of us should be building the Les Arcs 2022/3 pages now.

We had a walk upto Le Ridge this summer and bumped into a couple of surveyors setting out a turning circle for a navette to run up to there at some point in the future, probably a good idea as it's quite a trek up.

I wonder what the problem was with the funicular pillars. They were doing a lot of work over the summer.

boredsurfin et al, yesterday emailed edenski (info@edenski.com) about when they would be showing season pass prices for 2022-23.
Their reply today:
"You can find all our prices by clicking on the following link : https://www.skipass-laplagne.com/en/tarifs
You will be able to order from about the middle of September when the website is up and running.
Best regards,
Rachel"

Does this imply that prices quoted are edenski discount prices?
Await "middle of September" with interest.

@Jonpim, Thinking back the discounted price appeared on the skipass laplagne site and you had to book your lift pass through that site before the end of November to obtain the discount.
The Edenski site only really tells you how many points you have gained when buying your lift passes.
As the price quoted for next season is around 20% cheaper than last season's discounted price I doubt they will be offering a further discount.

skichampcouk, you could well be right.
And with much mumbling about energy prices causing resorts to consider not opening at all, the price on skipass-laplagne.com seems excellent value.

I'm loving the sound of this.

I'm guessing that if they can't do the 'locals season pass' at rock bottom rates then they have to pick a price that is a balance between
a) Doesn't wee wee the off the locals
b) Doesn't undercut their own 6 day pass price

So has to be above €600 say, but not much more or else the wrath of the locals will descend upon them

Faced with the increase in the price of the megawatt hour, ski resorts are also experiencing rising electricity prices.

La Plagne, in Savoie, is already planning radical measures to save 10 to 20% of its consumption this winter.

While some ski resorts are wondering if they will be able to open this winter, others are beginning to imagine solutions to save electricity. This is the case of La Plagne, in Savoie.

Faced with the explosion in electricity prices, the station located at an altitude of 2,000 meters, decided to slow down its chairlifts. Very energy-intensive, they will drive this winter at 4 meters per second, instead of 5 usually. Imperceptible for holidaymakers, this measure will nevertheless allow great savings.

In 1974, in the face of the first oil shock the station had closed the discovery pool of Plagne Centre and reduced the heating temperature to 19°. At the time it was to save fuel. Today La Plagne has to deal with rising electricity costs. Probably better to slow down the chairs than to increase the packages even more?

I've just looked at the https://www.lesarcs-peiseyvallandry.com/fr/forfaits_offre#pass page and discovered that they are charging 1150€ for a season pass, reduced to 920€ for us oldies. Buying in La Plagne gives a paradiski season pass as 730€, 420€ less. I wonder how that is happening

Ah! I see Les Arcs is yet to annouce the 2022/3 prices

Good spot - intrigued by this. Looks like it's just under the road so maybe something to do with that.

At first glance I really was hoping that it was sorting the high traffic piste that runs past Belle Plagne and gets a bit of a mess by lunchtime, but no such luck I think.
