Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Les Menuires trip, 7-14 Jan

My son is 3.5 years old and wants to try snowboarding. Ive looked in hire shops and it looks like the only boards they have are for 7+.

Any suggestions on how to get him started?

Burton Ringlet? I’m not a boarder but have seen them being used.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Burton riglet, crapita micro mini or anything around the 90cm or lower mark. Probably have to buy one but easy to shift again.

Taught my kids age 2 - both instructors now. Could never understand the whole age 7 + thing. Mine were both charging hard at age 5.

Yeah both of mine had tried riglets kit by 3 and loved it. The little reel leash on the front of those helps when you're just towing them around flatland at the starts

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Are you looking at actual hire shops, or somewhere via an reseller like alpinresort or an affiliate like sport 2000, etc.
If the later, then might be worth finding the actual hire shop & asking them direct.

One really important bit of advice I would give you for teaching kids to snowboard - it’s important to set expectations at an early age. I was very clear with mine that no friends on a powder day extends to family.

So basically I made it clear that if they fell over and got stuck I would only be coming back to get them on the next lap or when everything was tracked out.

And also they were never allowed to snake my line. No lunch if they did that.
