Sun finally came out. It has since disappeared and might not come back for another week or so.
Next storm is coming later tonight into Monday morning and will push East toward Utah and Colorado.
For those looking for a place to ski for the Easter Holidays, well there are plenty of options for amazing snow conditions in the Western half of North America.

Been out for a while traveling for work. It's the same old same old. Snow, snow and more snow. Next storm is currently underway in the Cascades and the Sierras. It will transit East and hit the same old boring ski resorts as has been the case all winter long. Northern Idaho ski areas, Sun Valley, Teton ski areas, Wasatch ski areas, Colorado Northern, Central and Front Range will see snow through the weekend. Sorry to sound like a broken record, but that's been the Triple Nina Winter of Massive Epic Content. We have been spoiled by the bountiful feet upon feet of snow this season. Will be tough to top the records being broken for total snow fall accumulation this season.
Out into the longer term, more storms into next week are on tap with unseasonably cool temps to keep the quality of snow high, and the stoke even higher. Enjoy the snow, and as always, stay safe out there.

The next 3 days will bring deep snow to the Cascades. And to Northern Idaho, parts of Colorado and Northern Utah as well. And as mentioned in an earlier post, there's another monster of a low pressure trough sitting out South of the Aleutian chain, lurking, and moving East. Still too soon to know where it will attack just yet.

Storm in progress. Mt Bachelor received 14" of medium density powder overnight. Snowing heavily, and another foot plus expected throughout the day and into Sunday morning.

Alta is going to hit 900" this season. You heard it hear first! They are at 874" for the season. Almost 2 feet in the past 24 to go with the other 2 feet the previous 24 hours. They can't get LCC or BCC roads open. Lots of avy mitigation in the works.
More Spring like temps in the cards for the weekend and some Spring time skiing for Easter weekend for large swatch of the West.

Still snowing in the Central Cascades today. About 3" over night at Bachelor and 2" at Mt Hood. More flurries today with temps in the upper 20's.
More spring like temps for most of the ski areas in the Western USA. Out into the future (April 14th-15th) looks to be a pattern developing out in the Pacific for another round of snow.

Snow flurries this morning as I look out the office window. Snowing up on the hill. A few inches so far. A bit more to come throughout the day. Going warmer as we progress into April. A bit of a warm up until Thursday, and then it looks like around the start of next week (April 17/18th) that we could see some colder air pushing down from the Gulf of AK.
Colorado looks to have some cold air moving into place toward the weekend, so there's potential for snow.

Woke up to a light dusting of snow in the yard this morning and about 5" on the mountain. Will go warm from here into the weekend. Lots of snowpack for the Spring. And importantly, for filling the reservoirs that badly need replenishing.

Several ski areas are closed for the season, or have limited operations (weekends only) but they are still receiving snow. Mt Baker received over a foot this past weekend. Whistler which is still open received a few inches as well. More coming for the PNW today into tomorrow morning. Could see close to a foot for the Northern Cascades and 6" or so for the Central Cascades. Cold air moving down from the Arctic is keeping the snow quality in good shape.

Unseasonably cold temps in the PNW this week. Mt Baker reported 11" overnight on top of the 17" they received the preceding day. Mt Hood received 6" and Mt. Bachelor 3", with more snow on the way on Tuesday evening into Wednesday. Cascades could see 6" to a foot by Thursday. Warming up into the weekend with sunshine.

I would just look at each individual ski resort at their current stats for snowpack depths and season total snowfall accumulation. I would guess that this past week would be the deepest period for snowpack measurements. There's been some warmer temps and snow consolidation recently.

Talking to an American today from Salt Lake and he mentioned that Mammoth may try to keep some skiing open right through the year, just to say they have done it once. That would be impressive

That would be an impressive feat! They surely have enough snow to stockpile.

Interesting effect that global warming is having on Lake Ontario/Erie "lake-effect" snow... they're getting far more snow now, because with the warmer temps the lakes are less likely to freeze over.
Previously when the lakes froze the source of moisture for the snow was turned off like a switch, but now if the lake is ice-free the snow just keeps coming

The Great Salt Lake in Utah that wasn't looking so great is at least looking mediocre right now. With about 3 feet of WE in the snowpack in the Wasatch, it should help turn the Great Salt Lake into at least the Okay Salt Lake.
Meanwhile, some cooling temps are filtering down from the Gulf of AK. There's some moisture in the clouds, and looking like a few inches of snow from the Coast Range in BC to the Sierras in Cali. for the weekend.

It's currently snowing at Mt Bachelor. Looks like it will be a dust on crust event for Saturday. Unless the storm over performs. Only looking at a few inches through Saturday.

Quick day trip to Alpine Meadows on Sunday - coverage is still excellent everywhere, skiing nicely. Lightning / thunderstorms ended the day at 1pm, an hour earlier than scheduled but the legs were pretty done by then anyway. Warm, sunny, no queues, brilliant!

Skied Alpine Meadows on the 4th of July. There wasn't enough snow to ski all the way back to the lifts, with about 100 yards of walking over mud and stone required. Still, Alpine Bowl was excellent and it was July! Probably my last day of the season unless I get inspired to make the trek to Mammoth.

I was very tempted to make a trip out to Mammoth but couldn't quite justify the time off. Conditions still look great (skiing back to the main lodge).
