Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Short leg ski trousers

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi there. Can anyone recommend some short leg chubby girl ski trousers please. Last pair were tog24 size 16s but I’ve expanded!
Have spotted dare2b effused ll in short, but in my experience their make tends to come up small.
Any recommendations would be much appreciated

Welcome to Snowheads, @Kapruner. I have a very short friend who gets ski trousers in charity shops then does a beautiful job of shortening them (which is always complicated). You might find that even trousers which are too long when you're standing in socks, will happily sit on top of your ski boots. Better than having them a bit too tight, which is horrid. With ski trousers - and indeed jackets - I find it essential to try them on, regardless of your shape. Ostensibly same-sized items in different makes come up very different. TK Maxx is a good hunting ground.

In my local town (Havant) there is a dress shop which does alterations. They're very good, and welcoming. You might have something similar local to you and you might find that it's worth buying men's trousers, if they fit you better, and paying £30 or so to have them shortened.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Yes, I get mine taken up....the most important thing is leg width for the mojo.

@Kapruner, myself and a few other shorties/pixies buy Schoffel ones. I have had others taken up in the past.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Thanks everyone! All tips & advice taken on board. I’d like to think I could drop a size by mid January but with Christmas bang in the middle of now & then I think it unlikely!

@Kapruner, I am also short. I have had Schoffel in the past, still had to have them shortened, they did fade quite badly but I must have liked them enough as I replaced like for like. Current ones are Poivre Blanc, which were quite pricey but I managed to get in a sale or reduced. They have a short leg pair in 16-18 on their website at the moment. Reduced to £140. Seems to be the only size available. I think mine came from S&R and they price matched but probably four years ago now. Still had to have them shortened. Luckily we have a very good inexpensive alternations lady in Chichester, who happily turns up/in whatever I take her including the dog’s waterproof coats. She seems to have short legs too!

I'm short and I like Columbia Bugaboo as they do a short length, are fairly generous on the bottom and aren't too low cut on the waist. I've also got a pair of the dare2b effused short that you mention as a spare pair, the leg length is good for me but they are a lot bulkier than the Columbia and I thought they came up small, I think mine are 2 sizes bigger than my Columbia pair.
