@Ozboy, clearly there is skiable snow, but if I had the choice of anywhere to ski, where money and transport time to resort wasn’t an issue I’d not be choosing PdS based
on current conditions.
I’m a pretty hardcore skier, I have travelled much further than “necessary” previously for snow and also sat in car parks in the rain awaiting winds to abate to access fresh snow higher up!

@kitenski, as I'm arriving on Wednesday, that's not what I want to hear
I suspect you are right based on snow conditions and open pistes alone, but it's probably worth pointing out that higher ski areas will have their own problems over the next few days with wind closures, whiteouts and avalanche danger. Somewhere like Les Lindarets or the Ranfoilly bowl might be the perfect balance between relative shelter and sufficient snow.
Then by midweek conditions lower down should have improved, hopefully significantly. While skiers in higher resorts may well be enduring -20C temperatures.

Arrived in Morzine late last night. Looking out the window now, there's nothing on the ground, which we expected really. Will head up to Avoriaz after breakfast and let you know. Apparently "heavy snow" today according to YR.

Zero queues in LG yesterday, I guess everybody was in Avo? No issue for parking on a late morning in Chavannes.
The bottom part of Gentianes was atrociously slushy by then - it should however improve for the rest of the week.
So we mainly stuck to the bowl, and especially enjoyed the powder between the Ranfoilly and Sautenaillles. Kid #2 is just about learning to use poles but she's not yet ready for following kid #1 on Yeti (it's still closed but he had to go play).
Enjoy the incoming snow!

@patrick!, we must have crossed paths, was only about 30 people up there. Too easy.
Looking at the detailed short term models for when the temps drop this morning, I reckon sleet at noon 1500m and fat flakes by 2pm
Best is WRF with sub zero at 11am

The Ranfoilly bowl looks uninvitingly wet on the webcams this morning. Might drive to Ardent to see what the lay of the land is. Steady rain in LG now - I think it will be another 2-3 hours before this turns to snow.

Just a warning that the route up to Avoriaz via the SUPER M is closed due to high winds as are a lot of the lifts up high. Going to be very busy over Ardent, we came up Pleney into the rain just for somewhere
To ski!

@franga, it's snowing on the webcams at the top of Grains d'Or (1630m), but doesn't appear to be settling on the trees.
At Mont Chery (1830m) it's snowing and easily settling.

Super M was closed as said above so we got the A bus to prodains and literally did a u turn.
It was lashing rain all around us and people coming down said it was mostly closed up above and Viz was poor so we are now sitting back in Morzine with a beer working on our next move. The app says super m is open now so might chance that and see what happens.

Shocking drive out yesterday. Set off Friday night heading for Ibis budget St Quentin. Puncture at 00.10 as we were 2 km from hotel. Carried on at 10 mph and got checked in. Up at 0730 to change the wheel (of course had to completely empty boot first) then hunted down a replacement (Feu Vert, Reims Tinqueux. Very good service) putting us 2 hours behind planned schedule. Arrived Chatel 1815, unpacked then down to GVA to pick up daughter and boyfriend. Back up to Chatel by 2215. Whacked.
On matters meteo it is raining at 1300m and had been through some of the night. No sign of the snowline up above (visibility poor but suspect above 1600m). Lazy day beckons, I’m not going out in this.
Forecasts still positive and temperature on our balcony has dropped 6.6 to 5.1 in the last hour.

Well if the forecast snow comes off it'll be fine as that should be able to get most everything open, then I'll hopefully still be able to find accomodation!!
looks pretty grim and green/brown on the Les Gets Front de Neige live cam!

Just boarded down from Avoriaz, where it was snowing to the bottom of Prodains where it was raining. Turned to rain near the bottom, so stopped for a beer. Starting to look a bit less like rain and more like snow now.

Hello folks, new to the group and no weather expert, so thank you all for your insights, this has become our go to resource.
We’re here in Prodains and it’s snowing now (just, looks a bit sleety).
Went up Stade around 10am (20mins queue) and then took the drag lift. Was tough up there, not quite a white out but tough. Lots of people having trouble, saw a couple of injuries. I’m a fairly decent boarder and I didn’t love it.
Came back down, queue for Stade and Tour both fairly huge at 11am (would guess 30-45 mins if not more).
Sacked it off and gone for an early lunch. A few people have come in since and said they can’t see anything out there now.
Will see what the weather gods have in store for us after lunch, could be an early finish and head for the spa!

Head down to Lindarets (lovely blues through the trees) or even the Les Gets bowl this PM - the snow is settling pretty fast above 1,500 metres now.

Not skiing today. Early morning rain has now turned to heavy snow at village level, while up top I see a lot of the high lifts around Avoriaz are closed, presumably due to the strong winds. It's still calm here, but 55kph was forecast for 2700m, so good look to anyone trying to ski in that!

@franga, cheers mate.....if I get something wrong I'll just say I'm an accountant that rounds 7 down to "less than 6"

@elefantfresh, if you can get over to LG the chavannes / bowl lifts running, plenty out there

We were quite lazy, in fact we met friends from our son's club that were leaving as we were parking...
And somehow we ended up at the Yeti (as opposed to "down Yeti") quite quickly after that...
Still happy to have the excuse of a 5yo kid to get some rest from trying to follow the 12yo...

@polo, thanks polo. Need to work on a play book now for tomorrow.
Is it the right thing to try and get to LG? OR do we get super m and head up? We have our lift tickets, should we get the m to ardent?
Today, we got nothing. Stood in the rain in Morzine and got the A up then down. I'm still in my boots, full of beer but no boarding.

@elefantfresh, So you got the A to prodains but the lift wasn't running? Super M, Prodains or Ardent are the 3 routes from Morzine to main PdS area.
Normally you can ski over to LG from Pleney (Morzine), but I'm not sure if the connecting pistes are open yet.....keep an eye on websites / local info. Otherwise you'd have to get a bus over to LG which isn't ideal.
The sun is out now so that's probably it until tomorrow for snow.

Yes. A to prodains. It was a mess. So we returned to town and regrouped. Tomorrow, we're going to get the m to ardents. See what happens.
Today, super m was shut (earlier) due to the wind.
You think we should try and get to LG? If so, how do we get there if the snow connection isn't there?
