Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Morzine - Advice on trip org and accommodation

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Group of 5 looking to plan a jan 23 trip to morzine. 4 nights. Never been to the resort before and would really value some experience on the resort and, most importantly, options for accommodation!

@Superdaw Welcome to SnowHeads snowHead

You might like to change the title from Moraine to Morzine as otherwise you'll be confusing a lot of people

PS Can't help, never been to Morzine

@Superdaw, Been to the resort the last 3 seasons we've been able to travel, plus a trip to Avoriaz back in 2016.

What sort of accommodation are you after? There's everything from Hostel type Accommodation right up to super swanky chalets.

Location wise, ideally you want to be fairly central in Morzine, but there is a good bus service around the valley.

There's not a huge deal of ski in ski out accommodation, and the stuff that is ski in/out, isn't particularly convenient to the town.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

A few years ago we used a company in Morzine called Snow and Trek to book a self-catering apartment for part of a week. They also sorted out transfers for us.

Skis were delivered to our door the evening of arrival (we didn't want to waste skiing time at a hire shop) by a company called All Mountain Rental.

Alternatively we have stayed at Hotel Sporting, not exactly a recommendation but it was OK.

You really need to get on and do it… I found options very limited when I was trying to book a short break at the end of Jan a couple of months ago. Our usual favoured hotel Petit Dru was full for one of the nights we wanted to go and Le Tremplin was also full. But those are worth looking at if your dates might work. They are opposite ends of town and depends if you would rather be near Pleney or Super Morzine.

Self-catering, catered or hotel? Some places are good for short breaks, others prefer weekend to weekend. Can make a big difference with flight costs. Apparently private transfers are getting booked up already and car hire is eye-watering at the moment.

If you’re after eating out in the evenings be aware the buses (other than Ligne A, which runs to Prodains) stop about 7, so you might want to plan to be able to walk home. Some hire shops have lockers you can leave your clobber in overnight so you can go for aprés in your trainers.

So a lot depends in your party/ski ratio!

We've used Host Savoie chalets in the past - at least one of their chalets is specifically for short breaks.
