Anyone stayed in Obergurgl Austria before and had a decent hotel close to the lifts?

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

I drive transfers to Obergurgl and have worked many seasons as a ski instructor there. The most recommended Hotels seem to be the Alpina Deluxe, or the Bergwelt. A little bit better for lift access are the Edelweiss & Gurgl, the Crystal VAYA, the Jenewein, the Madeleine, the Gurglerhof or the Josl, or the Hochfirst. There's plenty more and they all get pretty good reports from the customers that I drive in and out.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@dominichayhoe, I've stayed at the Edelweiss & Gurgl several times and found it to be excellent. About as close to the lifts as you can get and you can also ski back to the boot room door.

Thanks Guys, I've actually decided to do Val D'Isere/Tignes in the end, as I can't see my two children last 7 days of skiing without something else to do and Obergurgl doesn;t have a lot more to do that I can see.

That may be false logic.
My children are now 15 & 17 and been skiing since toddlers. Very rarely if ever do they want to do something else after skiing - certainly not at 14 & 12.
They just want to eat, shower, get their phones out and chill until dinner is served to them.

I didn't mean theyd want to do something after skiing, I meant they may not want to ski every day for 7 days.

Well mine always did, even when old enough to be horribly hungover on the Old Lady Gin they probably weren't old enough to buy in the resort supermarket. They weren't - as I was - deterred by grotty weather or nasty snow. They did, when the opportunity arose, much enjoy going off skiing with other kids from the chalet, or with their cousins. Skiing with parents can get boring, I guess.

@dominichayhoe, OK. We never did anything else but ski during the day but not everyone is the same as us.
What are you thinking they may want to do?

I haven't stayed there, but friends love the Edelweiss.

I think the OP has shifted to EK in France as a destination, but for future searches I recommend Austria hotel through Crystal (half board).
They have a sister hotel a bit more posh, with an underground pool and spa connecting them (Regina hotel, I think) but Austria Hotelwas perfect in all aspects.
And it's basically right by slopes, almost ski in ski out
