Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

La Plagne for family recommendations

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
First post on the forum! We have flights to Geneva for the first week of April and are thinking of going to La Plagne, and wondering where to stay (self catered).

We went this year to Tignes same week for first time as a family. The kids, 7 and 4 had lessons and can now go down learner / easy slopes. Having done some research La Plagne seems like a good place with the number of blues and greens.

Ideally we’d stay somewhere near lifts, ski school and have snow outside so that kids can play so was thinking staying somewhere higher like Le Plagne Centre. Also one of the kids was not to keen on lifts in general, was fine going on the Brevieres gondola but not others so ideally there would be a gondola or similar in case the fear persists to next year.

Any recommendations? Is Centre a good bet? Alternative resorts ideas welcome! Thanks!

Welcome to the forum, @routine.

La Plagne seems a good idea for people at beginner/low intermediate level, though I don't know whether it gets problematic in April. Someone will know! When I went at that sort of stage we stayed at Belle Plagne.

There may be some other suggestions coming along, La Plagne is quite a long transfer from Geneva (though not as long as Tignes) and youngsters sometimes struggle with that.

Thanks @j b. Centre seemed better lifts wise to get access to the easier slopes by looking at the map of La Plagne. I think Bellecote and Belle Plagne also look like candidates.

So wise I assumed it would be ok but good to get an idea if the risk is high of having snow issues…

Regarding transfer time Tignes was ok with a transfer company so somewhere similar would be fine, but if there is somewhere nearer that is an option even better!

Stayed in La Plagne 1800 Plagne Lauze apartments a few times.- plenty of self catering accommodation there. Opt for one one the larger apartments. A short stroll downhill to the nearest lift. Great, regular bus service from the apartments. Have been twice in April and never been an issue with snow conditions.

I don't know the area well and there have been some changes since I last stayed there but 1800 wasn't the most convenient for access to the rest of the area. Plagne Centre might be more convenient.

Two lifts out of 1800. One of them is old and slow and takes you up to another lift for Plagne Centre. The other lift takes you up to Aime and from there it is an easy run down to Plagne Centre.
