Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Best trip report of this season?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I've been too busy skiing (or should say juggling working and skiing) the past couple months so didn't spend much time on snowheads. Missed a whole lot of threads on here.

I enjoy reading trip reports. Could be trips that gone to exotic locations. Or trips that turned unexpectedly (example, the bloke who lost his passport on the plane and had to be escorted home).

Or just good writing! (Humor and self-deprecation are always enjoyable read)

What's your favorite trip report? Care to dig the thread up for those of us who missed it?

(and if you're still busy skiing and haven't got the free time to write up your great trips yet, keep this in mind and don't forget to do it when you get around to)

@abc, I think you should be fair to the competition and exclude recounting the passport loss from your judgement......as awful as it must have been and however much sympathy we all had it wins the best report hands down!

@toyah807, I'm not "excluding it" from the ranking, as I'm not making a ranking.

I've already read it. I want to read other trip reports as interesting as that one!

(sorry for those who haven't read it, it's not a standalone trip report, it's embedded in one of the bashes threads so I don't have the link)

Useless thread
People are only reading reports of resorts they are interested in.
Fair comparison is impossible.

I disagree. I read trip reports for places I am not interested in, in the hope that I become interested in them Very Happy

It’s ok that HE find it useless. He won’t read it. No lose to those of us who find it interesting.

My favourite threads are about places I haven't a hope of skiing in, and usually contain beautiful photos, currently Sharkymark's recent trip to the Lofoten Islands.

@denfinella, so you”re saying you’ve read them all?
Because that’s the only way to know the best one…., which is the supposed but impossible goal of this thread.

OP: « What's your favorite trip report? Care to dig the thread up for those of us who missed it? »

Shall we add lack of reading comprehension to rude and arrogant?

Are there really places you haven't been? Your own trip reports have been so wide ranging with excellent descriptions that you must surely win the prize for best "career achievement" trip reporter.

Though @ElzP deserves an honourable mention for her contributions this year.

I love reading the trip reports from all over - some are brilliant, so full of useful info and cracking stories. But this one got me googling and dreaming of going to lesser known ski areas even though i don't ski off piste:

One of the past (several years past) reports of skiing in the Lofoten Islands inspired me to book a trip. Not a ski trip - that's well out of my league as a skier - but a sailing trip, on a 50' Oyster which is a bigger boat than I'm used to. And the first holiday trip I did on my own, after my husband died. I flew to Oslo, saw some sights there, got an overnight train to Trondheim for some more sights, then an all day train up the coast to the port, inside the Arctic Circle, where the boat was berthed. It was mid summer - it never got dark.

Reading some of those trip reports, which those gorgeous photos, on your own after a few glasses of wine can turn into quite an expensive pastime!

@ElzP, I agree - Mike Pow's trip reports are amongst the best - whether it's Wales, the Alps or anywhere else!

Yours are alright too I s'pose wink

Thanks for the comments on the Lofoten stuff; it’s really cool when it inspires someone else to visit too! After all, I was inspired to go by a film. The internet is an expensive pastime indeed…
