Hi folks,
We’re not long back from our first ski trip with our 3.5 year old in Avoriaz. Went the first week in April, got lots of snow and had a fab time. We booked everything separately ourselves.
We are now looking to book up a trip with friends for late December. They are just back from Club Med Peisey Vallandry and want to go there.
As it’s at 1600m, I’m worried there may not be good snow cover at resort level by Boxing Day. Is this concern unfounded as snow cannons will take care of it?
The reason I ask is I would want my kid to take part in the ESF lessons provided by club med, but I’m not sure how she’ll get up to where snow is safely, as she seems too small for a chairlift (she’ll be 4 then, currently 97/98 cm).
Does anyone know how Club Med ESF get the 4 year olds to ski school each morning?

Although not "snowsure" when tested against ski areas that claim that quality, it's a very good bet that the area is competently covered. There's very extensive snow making all around LA and with good aspect too. I'd be surprised if it didn't (and others did have) snow going into a season.
It sits a little above LA 1600 centre too, with good arrangement of facilities a prerequisite for them taking the location to build there.
Honestly don't feel you'd have any problem there at that time of year. It is early ish as seasons do seem to have most snowfall post new year if you're to compare absolute technical snow depths, but they always appear to reliably get LA going generally on time for season to start.

@ski3, @Mclennr, is talking about club med in peisey vallandry not arc 1600. I'm not sure where it is in vallandry, but the esf will know how to transport small children. I've been given small children to take on chairlift.
However the beginners area of vallandry is now served by a telecabine able to whisk absolute beginners to the 2000m nursery slopes AND down again.
Vallandry is a snow sure as anywhere. I'd go. I'll even ski over from 1600 where I'll be over Christmas and New year.

You'll be fine. Have been going to Peisey / Vallandry for decades with kids and without. Great ESF, easy uplift, and never not been able to ski back down.

@Mclennr There is also a chair lift about 100m away from the CM - If there is little snow outside the hotel, they will take the kids up on that lift. The chairs also have the slip preventer things on them, so they can't really slip out.
Alternatively, the kids will go and do play activities - They will be well looked after whatever happens
