 Poster: A snowHead

Hi all - hoping to head for a last minute ski trip (departing tomorrow or Thursday) and am trying to figure out where has the best piste skiing over the coming 5-7days? It seems like there has been recent snow in the Pyrenees. Also presuming the high Alpine resorts (eg VT etc) would be a safe bet? We're both intermediates (one more early intermediate) and are completely flexible as to destination. Thanks

This might help...

Avoriaz, the high resorts in the Tarentaise & Maurienne and Grand Tourmalet in the Pyrenees still look to have plenty of snow.

Plenty in all the higher Austrian areas. Some glacier areas are pretty guaranteed.
You're looking for high and predominantly north-facing at this time of year, just need to check resort closing dates, as some shut even though they have plenty of snow, as there just aren't enough skiers to go round.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Thanks Luigi. Apologies Pam - missed that thread in my excitement to get back on the slopes!

@newskier22, welcome to Snowheads. Im in Canazei at the moment, and the higher non south facing slopes are excellent, it’s not powder but for on piste skiing it’s very good. It’s not too crowded, most lifts I’ve been sat on my own, including a few cable cars.

We are in Val Thorens and it's a similar story here. It feels very quiet on the slopes - which are holding up extremely well. Yes - it feels like mid April rather than mid March but conditions remain great, especially higher up. We skied down to St Martin today at 2pm and didn't hit any slush until we reached the top of St Martin 1 lift, at 1800m. Below that it was still great fun on a very quiet run with some lovely slush bumps lower down .

Thanks @geoffknight and @Bergmeister. We've plumped for Obertauern, so fingers crossed!
