Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

A snowHead
Looking like a bit of snow coming. I threw my skins in the freezer back in November, got them out tonight thinking I may need them this weekend and they smell really offensive.
Thinking it’s a bit of cross contamination from the 5kg of groper I chucked on top of them just before Christmas.
Any cunning solutions to curing fishy smelling skins? Will the snow just clean them up?
They are pretty rancid. Not keen to stick them in my jacket, and my boots have a whole different funky smell which isn’t going to make my truck a very pleasant place to be on a drive up a mountain.

Try peeing on them, that should get rid of the Fish smell at least. Oh and if you're approaching 40 everyone expects you to smell of wee wee and mothballs anyway.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

That's the first time I've heard of freezing skins. What's the thinking behind it?

Stopping the glue from degrading I guess.
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Gets pretty hot here. Easier to chuck them in the freezer than find somewhere they won’t get cooked.
Might rethink that plan going forward though.

The problem’s how you store your fish - not how you store your skins.
