Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

@Edith Crawley, welcome to SHs snowHead

To be honest, any decent sunglasses will be fine. Decathlon, for example, do a pretty wide selection of sporty sunglasses.

While sunglasses will (mostly) work, goggles are generally more comfortable, especially with a helmet. They also offer better light protection and keep the wind out. If you insist on sunnies, get something with a good wraparound fit and a mirrored coating, and remember they will probably get trashed. Otherwise, buy some goggles and swap to any pair of sunnies for the lunch time terrace.

I am perfectly happy with sunglasses I have a pair of photochromatic sports sunglasses and like the extra peripheral vision they give mine came with interchangable lenses ...of course I do have a pair of Smith goggles for when the conditions change Cool

not these but like them

@Edith Crawley, welcome to snowHeads. Good advice about goggles above and you’ll need those in some light conditions anyway.

I’ve also used sunglasses for skiing and not had problems with them getting broken. Robust looking frames that are likely to stand up to a few knocks are needed. A decent protective case for carrying also good.

Eye health protection is most important, so high light filter (Category 3+) and UV400 protection recommended.
Wraparound style also cuts out light and wind from side.

Lens quality and clarity of vision important for reading snow terrain when skiing. Unfortunately I’ve found the more expensive brands, such as Ray Ban and Maui Jim, best for that.

If you find some good cheaper ones please let us know. snowHead

@Edith Crawley, Sun God polarised lenses, excellent. However i'd suggest goggles not sunglasses, better all around vision.
