Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

France via Italy COVID

Apologies if this question is already on a separate post but we are off to France for half term; flying into Turin, hiring a car and driving to Serre Chevalier.

3 of us are doubled vaxed with booster and our 15 year old is double vaxed.

If I understand the French and Italian websites properly I think we are exempt from a pre-test for Italy (but do have to fill in a PLF) but do need to take a pre-test for France.

If anyone is in a similar situation and has looked into it their guidance would be very much appreciated.

I believe you are correct. I’ve booked a LF that we’ll time for our arrival into France, not Italy (just to be sure). French PLF completed (the Italian one didn’t allow for arrival by air and private transfer). French declaration completed along with GreenPass and pass sanitaire

Currently unless you are an EU citizen you will need a test before entering Italy. In practice I doubt very much if there will be any checks once you are within the Schengen (after 1 Feb)

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I don’t believe that is correct, with your double vax + booster, you obtain the GreenPass, no LF or PCR required for entry into Italy for UK citizens

You'll need to Register first of course.

@ac505, OK - please show me where it says that in the Italian Government regulations. Or any airline website departing form UK. Or the FCDO website. Or an Italian Government website.

I would really like that to be true, and am hoping that it will become so soon. But it is not the case right now.

My mistake:
@you must show evidence of a negative PCR test taken within 48 hours before entering Italy OR a negative antigen test taken within 24 hours before entering Italy.”

Either way , as noted above you need a -ve LF within 24hrs prior to entry into France

This was the sentence I was looking at but having re-read it I don’t think it applies to an airport arrival followed by car hire:

Presumably then I have to submit the PCR/ antigen test on both a french and Italian PLF?

The same exemptions also apply to:

1. Travellers transiting through Italy in a private vehicle for up to 36 hours. At the expiry of this period, they must leave Italy or begin the five-day quarantine period at the address indicated on the Passenger Locator Form and take the post-quarantine molecular or antigen test
