Poster: A snowHead
|
Five of us are off to Meribel in three weeks. I've always ordered lift passes online in advance and had them posted to my home address in the UK to take with us. Just seemed a bit easier than queuing/collecting them in resort on the first morning.
I'm just a bit unsure, since Brexit, if a thin A5 envelope containing five lift passes will arrive in the UK untouched, or if I can potentially expect a customs/import charge (either from France or the UK) for €1600 worth of 'goods'. In which case we'll go with the 'resort collection'?
Does anyone have any such knowledge?

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

I doubt they are goods just a prepayment for services to be consumed in France. But why bother with postage anyway given you'll have to confirm vax status etc to have them activated.?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

@Dave of the Marmottes, but would @stuartd71, not be able to confirm vax status online too?
We updated our season passes (Austrian Super Ski Card- Salzburg & Kitzbuheler Alpen) back in 2021 and then at a later time were able to add our vax status. I was a bit wary the first time we went through a gate - bit like that first peage near Calais and the doofer - but it all worked.
But I don’t know the system in Meribel.

I ordered four filter buffs from the Three Valleys shop two weeks ago with expected delivery 6 working days and they haven't arrived in time for half term and the tracking tells me nothing but that they were sent from France a week ago. I can live without a buff but I would absolutely not take that chance with a lift pass. I reckon the problem is this end and I wouldn't do it if I were you

Cheers everyone! Think I might just go for resort collection (in Tougnette lift pass office on the Chaudanne I think?) for peace of mind! Got the impression that the Vax status was more about having your NHS App barcode available for separate inspection (rather than it being linked to the lift pass.... or needing to be shown to collect the lift pass.) That's just going off the 3V website. Also agree with @Skimum1. Our Royal Mail service here in Lancashire has been pretty awful for ages.

My advice - don't take added risks, for the sake of a little queuing that might not even be an issue.....Although, it is possible that if you have details of the Lift Pass numbers and proof of purchase, you will be able to get replacements if they don't turn up.

Méribel used SKIDATA cards so if you already have cards with the number 01-1614 load them online and you can start skiing straight away without having to worry about collecting them.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.
