Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Last two weeks of March - accommodation.

Looking to head to Europe for a couple of weeks of skiing the last couple of weeks of March. We won’t be able to pre book accommodation because we’ll have to call the whole thing off if we can’t get on a plane due to a positive PCR test (which is a genuine possibility I suppose).
So we need to decide where to fly into. If France is the best chance of getting ‘last minute’ lodging we’ll choose to fly into Geneva or even Milan. If last minute in Austria is better we’ll fly into Zurich I guess.
We don’t mind staying in the valleys. Driving to the high resorts is no issue if we’re in the general area.
TIA.

You should easily be able to find accommodation in late March, regardless of the country. I would say Geneva > Zurich > Milan if you're aiming for a highish altitude ski area.

@denfinella,
Thanks. I was concerned the resorts would be unusually busy then because of the pent up demand due to shut (UK) borders.

@sbooker, Not sure why you'd fly to Zurich if Austria was your final destination. However, lots of areas in Austria offer free lift passes for kids after 19 Mar 22 if you are a family. Plenty of options here in Ski Amade.

That's a fair point, particularly with respect to France, but I wouldn't expect it to make an enormous difference.

I believe most or all French resorts usually have plenty of vacant accommodation throughout the season apart from New Year / February half term.

I'd pretty much agree with this. ( Barring St Anton, SFL and perhaps Ischgl)

Because INN and SZG don't have many direct flights from Oz?

We’re making quite the trek from Australia. Flying into Salzburg or Innsbruck would require a third leg. I expect we would prefer to spend our time around Alrberg, Ischgl, Olbergurgl or the glaciers in that vicinity of Austria is the destination given it is latish in the season.
Preference would be fly into Geneva and head to the Tarentaise hills.
I’m now comfortable that we could find somewhere to stay at last minute.
Thanks.
